Alberto Ruiz is a supporting antagonist in Season Five of Justified.
He is portrayed by Justin Huen.
Biography[]
Ruiz is an associate of Yoon, a representative of the Mexican drug cartels. He appears briefly attending the meeting between Yoon, Boyd Crowder, Wynn Duffy and Ethan Picker. He also attends a later meeting between Yoon and Johnny Crowder, telling Johnny that he has to kill Boyd at the Mexican border so that his deal with Yoon will be valid.
After Boyd and Danny Crowe violate the deal with Yoon by killing Johnny and his henchmen, Ruiz informs Boyd that Yoon has called off their deal. Yoon later orders Boyd's murder, and Ruiz and his henchmen Manolo and Manuel interrogate Duffy, who claims to have executed Boyd. Ruiz tells him that Yoon wants his skin as proof. However, Ruiz then sees Boyd while spying on Daryl Crowe Jr., who was involved in the deal, and he, Manolo and Manuel decide to kill him themselves.
Hunting down Boyd's gang member Jimmy Tolan, Ruiz holds him at gunpoint and forces him to call Boyd and lure him to the Crowder bar. When Boyd arrives, he is immediately met by Alberto, and prepares to shoot him, but has a gun put against his head by Manuel, and is forced to watch Manolo execute Jimmy for his involvement in lying about the deaths in Mexico. He then forces Boyd to send a text to Daryl in order to get him to go to Ava Crowder's house so they can kill him. However, Boyd secretly sends a text to the US marshals instead, telling them of his situation.
When Ruiz, Manolo and Manuel go to Ava's house, bringing Boyd with them, they find that Daryl isn't there. US marshals Rachel Brooks and Tim Gutterson then arrive, and order them to release Boyd, resulting in a shootout. Ruiz is shot and killed by Tim, being the second to die after Manuel.
