Alcyoneus is the main antagonist of the 2011 fantasy novel The Son of Neptune. He is the eldest giant, born to oppose Hades, he is the archenemy of his great-grandniece Hazel Levesque.

Alcyoneus is 50 feet tall. He is made of resources under the earth, supposedly having a diamond for a heart. unlike other immortal beings, Alcyoneus bleeds oil instead of ichor
Biography[]
The Son of Neptune[]
First mentioned when Camp Jupiter's Senate is discussing the Quest to Free Thanatos. Hazel Levesque tells Reyna Ramirez-Arellano that Alcyoneus is waiting for her, Percy Jackson, and Frank Zhang. When asked how she knew that Ambassador of Hades/Pluto to Camp Jupiter, Nico di Angelo, answers saying, Alcyoneus was the giant created to destroy Hades.
On the quest Hazel has flashbacks to her youth. Her mother, Marie Levesque was manipulated by Gaea into moving to Alaska out of the reach of the Olympians. Every night the earth goddess would take control of Marie and force Hazel to raise precious gems to reanimate Alcyoneus. When Hazel found out the truth she tried refused to help Gaea and used her powers she destroyed the cavern housing the four at the cost of her own life. Marie and Hazel died together in an embrace.
The three arrive in Alaska where Alcyoneus is holding Thanatos hostage. The trio reach the giant's ice fortress and battle the giant. Frank frees Thanatos, Percy battles Alcyoneus's ice shadow minions to let Frank free the chained go, and Hazel and her pet horse, Arion (an immortal horse and Percy's half brother) battle Alcyoneus himself. Thanatos is free and before leaving and returning to the Underworld let's Hazel stay on the surface with her friends. Frank ties a rope to Alcyoneus's feet and Hazel and Arion drag the giant ten miles into Canada. Alcyoneus gloats about how he can't be killed but Frank informs him that they're now in Canada. Hazel decapitates the giant and his body turns into a pile of expensive rocks.
