Alecto is a Black Knife assassin and is the ringleader of the Black Knife Assassins. She had a hand in the assassination of Godwyn the Golden, the son of Queen Marika the Eternal and her first consort Godfrey, First Elden Lord. She is encountered as a boss in the 2022 game Elden Ring.
Biography[]
Alecto is a Numen woman who has close ties with Marika the Eternal. In an attempt to change her fate of being a pawn to the Two Fingers, Lunar Princess Ranni stole a fragment of the rune of death from the shadow bound beast Maliketh, the Black Blade, and through a fearsome rite, imbued the weapons of Alecto and her fellow Black Knife Assassins, who also have close ties with Marika, with Destined Death. As she wants to preserve her spirit, Ranni knew that someone else has to die as well, and as a result, Alecto and the assassins chose Godwyn the Golden as their target.
Prior to the Shattering, Alecto and the Black Knife Assassins arrived in Leyndell, the royal capital of the Lands Between. During the Night of Black Knives, they assassinate Godwyn the Golden, who died in soul alone and whose flesh was carved with the Cursemark of Death, with the other half being on Ranni's empyrean body. However, as both Godwyn and Ranni died at the same time, the mark, which was to form a circle, was split into two halves. After successfully killing their target, the assassins fled Leyndell. During their escape, Alecto was protected by her daughter Tiche, one of the assassins, who was killed in the process.
Despite her escape, Alecto was eventually caught and is imprisoned in an evergaol in Liurnia of the Lakes.
