I'm going to be a better fucking parent than you, because it's not hard, is it? | „ |
~ Alex revealing to Nic his true reasons for having the affair with her. |
Alex is a supporting antagonist in the BBC thriller-comedy Am I Being Unreasonable?.
He is the brother of Dan and husband of Suzie who had an affair with Dan's wife, Nic.
He is portrayed by David Fynn.
Personality[]
Alex is first portrayed in Nic's delusional flashbacks as a sweet, caring and charming man. In reality, Alex was a sleazy and adulterous man who also enabled his brother's adultery as well. He has a strong resentment against his brother which becomes his sole rationale for having the affair.
Biography[]
In the pilot, Alex is seen on a snowy day flirting with Nic on a train station. It is suggested the pair are in a loving relationship. Nic boards a train and kisses Alex as the doors close. When this happens, one of Alex's toggles on his duffle coat gets caught in the doors. The pair laugh about it expecting the doors to reopen due to the jam. Instead, the train begins to start. Stunned and unsure what to do, Nic freezes. Alex is then hit by an oncoming train and killed.
In reality, Nic is married to Alex's brother, Dan. Alex and Nic had numerous sexual affairs (including on Nic's wedding day). Suzie, Alex's wife, eventually learned of Alex's affair and made him end it with Nic at the train station. The real flashback is shown where Alex insults Nic's weight and their sex, whilst also revealing the only reason he had the affair is to get revenge on his brother whom he resents. This infuriates Nic, who pulls Alex's coat in front of the closing doors. She refuses to use the emergency stop and lets Alex die.
