Alex Dimitrios is a supporting antagonist of the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale. He is a government contractor and associate of Quantum financier Le Chiffre.
He was portrayed by Simon Abkarian.
History
Following Mollaka Danso's death, James Bond learned of Alex Dimitrios, who has been assigned by Le Chiffre to sabotage a company called Skyfleet by blowing up the new Skyfleet S570.
Bond also learned that Le Chiffre has spent $101,206,000 from the warlord Steven Obanno (on behalf of Quantum leader Mr. White) to fund for the operation that Danso was intended to accomplish. With this information, Bond was able to track Dimitrios to the Bahamas, where he is seen playing poker and abusing his wife Solange before losing to an arriving Bond.
Dimitrios made his way to the Miami International Airport as he intends to meet up Carlos Nikolic to blow up the prototype. Needless to say, he learned that Bond has been spying on him after interrogating his wife and managed to hold him at knifepoint. However, Bond turns the table by turning the knife and stabbing Dimitrios in the chest, killing him instantly.
Bond would later finish the job by strapping the bomb into Carlo's belt, killing him for good and saving the prototype from destruction. This leaves Le Chiffre very upset as he has to find a way to retrieve the lost money and pay it back to Obanno.
Bond eventually learned that Quantum was nothing more than a front run by Ernst Stavro Blofeld of SPECTRE, and that Dimitrios, along with Le Chiffre, Obanno and Mr. White, were all pawns as part of Blofeld's true plot to wreak psychological pain on Bond.
Trivia
- Dimitrios was briefly seen in the film's opening credits where Bond (seen in black and white figures) stabs Dimitrios (seen in red figures) with a knife, and Dimitrios shatters into red diamonds.
