Alexander "Alex" Lualhati is one of the two main antagonists (alongside his wife Juliana) of the ABS-CBN's Filipino drama thriller series Linlang (2023).
He is portrayed by JM de Guzman.
Biography[]
Once Alex is revealed as the only heiress, yet illegitimate child, of Jessie and Amelia—a product resulting from his mother's affair with him—he remains unaware that his stepbrother Victor is the only legitimate child of his father. They believe Victor to be born out of wedlock since they were young kids after their father introduced him to his brother when they were young kids, leaving him and his mother Amelia heartbroken, Alex harbored hidden feelings of envy and jealousy for a long time. Alex felt devastated when his father passed away, particularly due to the realization of Victor's misfortune that had plagued their lives.
As Alex grew into adulthood, he achieved remarkable success, becoming a highly recommended valedictorian after completing his master's degree in law at college. Alongside his academic achievements, he also found love in a relationship with his fiancée, Sylvia. However, despite his accomplishments, Alex couldn't shake the feeling of being indulged and receiving more attention from his mother, Amelia, compared to his brother, Victor, whose honorable weaknesses were often overlooked, leaving him feeling treated as inferior.
At the outset, when Alex encounters trouble caused by his half-brother Victor and bails him out of jail, he feels embarrassed, seeing Victor portrayed as a tough guy. At that moment, Alex watches Victor gets married to Juliana, stealing glances at her while deeply absorbed in his thoughts.
The next day, Alex, now a successful lawyer, finds himself listed as a candidate for judgeship, thanks to the favor bestowed upon him by his father-in-law, Honorable Dante Villamayor, impressed by Alex's skill and success. In the aftermath of Victor's complaints to Alex about his wife Juliana's betrayal, alleging her affair with someone else, Alex insists that Victor seek separation from her.
On the night of the revelation, when Juliana came to see that another mysterious man revealed it was Alex, with true intentions of having an affair with Juliana, manipulating Lucas, her boss, to orchestrate a scenario where he pretends to have an affair with Juliana at the hotel, setting up Victor's confrontation with Lucas regarding his wife's affair. At that moment, everything became clear to Juliana: Alex's true motives, Lucas's involvement, and Victor's impending confrontation with his wife's lover. The intricate web of deceit unfolded before her, leaving Juliana stunned and unsure of her next move.
