Biography[]
Background[]
Alex Tierney is a mercenary from Miami, Florida who has a criminal record of rape and arms dealing.
Death Train[]
Tierney and his team of mercenaries were hired by General Konstantin Benin to transport a nuclear bomb by train to Iraq, which would force Russia to invade the country in order to recover the bomb.
Alex and his team hijack the train at Bremen and take 12 hostages before setting off with the bomb. After a near-miss with another train, Alex radios Eurorail control in Munich and demands them to make a clear path to Stuttgart lest he kills hostages.
The Death Train is then switched off the main line and onto a spur where the Bremen police arrive to arrest Alex and his team. In retaliation, Alex executes one of the hostages and drives the train back onto the main line before warning control that he will kill two more hostages if they switch him off the main line again.
Alex is later contacted by Malcolm Philpott and tells him that he'll talk once the Death Train arrives in Stuttgart. As the Death Train passes Stuttgart, Alex is contacted by General Benin, who establishes contact with Alex via old telephone.
As the Death Train nears the border to Switzerland, Alex and his team are then shot at by a tear gas rocket fired by Sabrina Carver, forcing all of them to hide from the gas as Mike Graham boards the train via helicopter. As soon as Graham is on the train, Alex and his men open fire at the helicopter, destroying it and killing all on board. Alex then shoots at the roof in an attempt to kill Graham, but was unable to as Graham jumps off the train and escapes via another helicopter.
As the train arrives in Zurich, Alex kills two more hostages and throws them off the train, making good on his earlier promise. Alex then contacts Malcolm again and tells dispatch to route the train to Bolzano, Italy.
As the Death Train approaches Tirano Tunnel, Alex is contacted by General Benin, informing him of Philcott's plan to remove rails in the tunnel. Alex stops the train outside the tunnel and picks up two more rails to use as a replacement. As the track is being repaired, Alex and his men are ambushed by Graham's team and a shootout ensues, resulting in three of Alex's men dying and a hostage rescued. Alex then speeds the train towards the Italian end of the tunnel and crashes through a military truck.
The next night, Alex demands for a doctor for his right-hand man. On the way to Gorizia, Alex attempts to contact Benin again, but was unable to do so. Upon arriving in Gorizia, Alex and his men collect an elderly doctor after threatening to kill another hostage.
The Death Train arrives in Belgrade where Roger Flint of GNN is waiting along with Carver, posing as a camerawoman. Alex then holds the doctor at gunpoint as he speaks to Flint and allows him and his camerawoman onto the train. At the same time, Graham boards the train before it leaves again.
As Tierney is looking into the camera, he is shot in the head by Carver using a gun built in the camera.
