| ~ Alexander Romanov to Soviet Commander |
Alexander Romanov was the secondary antagonist of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, serving as the main antagonist in the Allied perspective and the tritagonist in the Soviet perspective. He is the anti-villain of Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge, in the Allied campaign of Yuri's Revenge.
He was a distant relative of Nicholas II and a staunch supporter of Communism. He became the Premier of the Soviet Union after Joseph Stalin's defeat and death in the aftermath of the Second World War with the Allies. Publicly an advocate for peace, but in reality, vowed revenge for the humiliating his motherland received and planned to invade the United States, thus starting the Third World War. During his campaign he was accompanied by Yuri as his chief advisor but would eventually manipulate him and betray him. In the second iteration of World War III, he agreed on a peace treaty with the Allies, upon realizing that Yuri poses a serious threat to the world.
He was portrayed by the late Nicholas Worth, who also voiced Mikael Bulba in Freedom Fighters.

Biography[]
After Joseph Stalin's death, the Allies put Romanov in power to eliminate communism, hoping that his ties to the old Romanov Dynasty and his involvement in the communist party would help reunite a fractured union. However, Romanov tricked the Allies to giving him power so that he can have his revenge against the Allies for defeating the Soviets. The other countries supported him and fell for his lie. Romanov built up the military and invaded the U.S., catching them off-guard. The Premier also invaded major cities in Europe and the Pentagon, crippling the Allies. The Allies led a counterattack on Moscow and overrun Soviet defenses. Romanov tried to hide from the Allies by sending an impostor. The Allies’ top commando Tanya wasn’t fooled and found the premier in his underwear. He was imprisoned in the Tower of London.
In the Allied campaign of Yuri's Revenge, Romanov did not have many appearances. He signed the London peace treaty with the Allies before the final joint attack on Yuri's forces. During the initial events of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, it is implied that Romanov fled the country and possibly got killed by the angry patrons (as a result of the merging timelines which left the USSR in a state of disarray after the war).
Trivia[]
- In the European version of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, he is referred to as President Romanov, President Alexander or The President, probably as a popular reference to Mikhail Gorbachev assuming the temporary position of President of the Soviet Union.
