Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Woden's background. We know he is a US Senator of an unknown state (most likely New York), and he at some point joined a secret society known as the Inner Circle. In 1991, Woden and fellow Inner Circle member Nicole Horne became involved with a research project conducted by the US Army called Project Valhalla, which would develop a drug called Valkyr that would enhance US soldiers' strength, stamina, endurance, and morale. The test turned out to be a failure, after the drugs turned it's subjects into psychotic, homicidal murderers, and was cancelled four years later in 1995. Sometime after the project, Woden would mentor Russian mobster Vladimir Lem into becoming a member of the Inner Circle.
Valkyr Case[]
In 1998, Horne would blackmail Woden with a sex tape of him and prostitute Candy Dawn into silence. Out of desperation, Woden emailed Michelle Payne, a secretary for the District Attorney files about the Valkyr case, which would lead to Horne sending three Valkyr subjects to the Payne residence ending in the deaths of both Michelle and her 6-month-old daughter Rose and later the deaths of the three subjects at the hands of her husband, NYPD Detective Max Payne via self-defense. Woden sending the files to Michelle would indirectly lead to Max become bitter, angry and vengeful seeking to kill those responsible for his family's murders.
