Alfried Gallant is an antagonist in the anime Buddy Complex. He is a lieutenant colonel in the Republic of Great Zogilia.
Personality[]
Alfried Gallant takes a more calm and logical approach in making decisions. He deeply cares about his comrades, such as wanting to avenge Passo's death at the hands of the Bradyon and having Hina released from detention under suspicion, although he also thinks that those who bring about their own demise should be left alone as being responsible for their own fate. In spite of that, he still saved Margaret O'Keefe from such a fate on one occasion. Despite his affiliation with Zogilia, he believes his faction's pursuit of Nectoribium is rather imprudent.
Biography[]
After the failed capture of the Free Pact Alliance's new Valiancers, Alfried Gallant was seen on the Trident reassuring the retreated assault team that there was still another chance.
When they sortie again, he would move out in his Alsiel and carry out his own attack against the Cygnus. After that, he would help his team execute his strategy by distracting the Alliance forces, until two of Zogilia's best pilots Bizon Gerafil and Hina Ryazan arrive to level out the battlefield. Although the Alliance forces were being overwhelmed, Aoba Watase arrives in his Luxon and couples with Dio Junyou Weinberg's Bradyon, turning the tide of the battle against Zogilia a second time. Alfried analyzes the situation and then tries to counterattack, only to be forced to fall back. He would then witness Passo die protecting him from Dio. After Aoba's failed attempt to reunite with Hina and the weakened state of the Alliance forces from Aoba forcefully decoupling, Alfried manages to recover the survivors on his side.
Back on the Trident, he and Margaret O'Keefe debate over Hina's detention out of her suspicion just because of Aoba, an enemy pilot, knowing her name. After Margaret leaves, Bizon later comes up to Alfried and shares his opinion on whether Hina had any connection with Aoba, and Alfried assures Bizon that he will try to get Hina released.
Later, he meets with his team for briefing for the next mission and after that talks with Hina after her release. He assures her that she can prove her innocence, but also reminding her that her duties were still more important. Later, he sorties out with a large Zogilian fleet, which lays heavy fire on the Alliance forces trying to move out to support their allies at the Otaru Base. Eventually, he unveils the Trident submarine's aerial mode, which catches the Cygnus by surprise. After the Cygnus decides to abandon Chitose Base, they have Aoba and Dio activate the Code T2 Rise ability during their Coupling mode, and the duo then shield the Cygnus from the Tridents' shots while theirs lays its own fire onto the enemy vessel. This surprises Alfried; when Margaret O'Keefe tries to order the crew to pursue, Alfried does not deem it meaningful, explaining that they have already accomplished their objective to capture the Chitose Base.

After Bizon Gerafil takes control of Zogilia and becomes Evgeni Kedar, Alfried would be under Evgeni's command. He would engage the Alliance forces in the space battle protecting the Gorgon cannon. When he finds out Evgeni wants to destroy everything by firing the Gorgon cannon at the Nectoribium deposits on Earth, he tries to reason with Evgeni, but the latter refused to change his mind. After Margaret O'Keefe overthrows the Zogilian administration on Earth, Alfried would take over as one of the top command and is later seen making peace with the Alliance leaders.
