The aliens are the main antagonists of the 2011 American science fiction film, Battle: Los Angeles, which based on the real-life 1942 attack, Battle of Los Angeles. They invaded Earth on August 12th, 2011, with the intention of obtaining the planet's natural resources and colonizing it; especially, they were interested in Earth's huge amounts of liquid water, which they utilized to fuel their soldiers and equipment.

Overview[]

The extraterrestrial beings featured in the film ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ are a formidable force, demonstrating both advanced technology and aggressive behavior. These antagonistic creatures, originating from an unknown world beyond ours, launched a sudden and devastating attack on Los Angeles, causing widespread chaos and destruction. The aliens exhibit a high level of resilience and combat skill, often requiring significant firepower to defeat. Key events include numerous encounters with the film’s protagonists, where the aliens were shown to be a significant threat, often resulting in high-stakes, life-or-death situations. Their mysterious origin and destructive intent make them a captivating subject of study and a notable addition to the pantheon of cinematic extraterrestrial villains.

History[]

Background[]

Nothing is known about the aliens’ origins, but it is assumed that they reside on their home planet. They are a highly advanced and aggressive species, capable of interstellar travel and launching a massive invasion of Earth. Their motives are unclear, but they seem to be interested in harvesting Earth’s water resources, as they target coastal cities and deploy large extraction machines.

Battle: Los Angeles[]

On the 12th of August 2011, the aliens invaded the planet Earth. Initially confused by the Human population, these otherworldly entities were initially mistaken for clusters of meteors hurtling towards the humanity's home planet. However, it wasn't long before their true nature was unveiled, as immense spacecraft descended upon twelve of the most populated regions across the globe, all situated near the coastlines. The invading aliens wasted no time in launching their ground forces, furiously attacking numerous major cities spread across Earth's surface. Among the targeted urban areas were iconic locations such as the glamorous city of Paris, the historic capital of London, the vast metropolis of Moscow, the bustling melting pot of cultures that is New York City, the vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong, the Brazilian gem of Rio de Janeiro, the vibrant port city of Hamburg, and the futuristic marvel that is Tokyo.

The clash that unfolds in Los Angeles presents a compelling spectacle of extraterrestrial beings engaging in a fierce battle against the armed forces of the United States of America, specifically the U.S. Marines, although soldiers from the National Guard, Air Force, and Army also find themselves thrust into combat. The encounter between the aliens and the U.S. Marines proves to be an immense challenge, as the former effectively employ their advanced weaponry to assert their dominance over vast portions of the city. What's more, the alien invaders are eventually joined by their aerial counterparts, effortlessly seizing control of the skies above LA from the U.S. Air Force. In addition to their formidable ground forces and an overwhelming presence in the air, the extraterrestrials unleash a remarkably strategic move by establishing a central command center that effectively oversees an army of unmanned flying drones. Within a remarkably short span of time, these drones give the alien forces a seemingly insurmountable advantage, resulting in heavy casualties among the U.S. military, with thousands losing their lives in the intense engagements. However, a brave squad of Marines manages to dismantle the command center, disabling all the drones and robbing the aliens of their aerial assets. The sudden absence of air support marks a turning point, as the aliens find themselves stripped of their previous advantage. Lacking the cohesive tactical prowess that characterized their initial assault on the city, their forces are left vulnerable. Retreating to a secure command post, the courageous Marines reunite with thousands of reinforcements, ready to launch a counteroffensive and reclaim Los Angeles from the clutches of the alien invaders. It is widely speculated that it takes an additional arduous 18 months to eradicate or apprehend all remaining aliens who were part of the West Coast offensive.

Trivia[]

  • The aliens' primary objective is to secure Earth's water supply, which they use as a source of energy. Their invasion strategy involves rapid and overwhelming force to quickly establish dominance over major cities.
  • Given the dilapidated state of their spacecraft and technology, it's plausible that the aliens are hunting for a new home planet, maybe because their previous one became uninhabitable due to battle or another calamity. This would explain their War of the Worlds-style landing approach, as well as their comparatively modest technical progress for a spacefaring society.
