The Aliens are the main antagonists of the Cloververse. They are an enigmatic race of aliens that continuously invade the Earth.

Biography

The Aliens (specifically the Alien Mothership and the Mutant Space Worm) did not appear until 10 Cloverfield Lane where they made their physical debut in the climax. They are presumably created by the Alien Mothership who didn't appear as well until the end.

In 10 Cloverfield Lane, after Michelle escapes her kidnapper Howard Stambler, this is when the Aliens come down to make their move as she sees the Alien Spaceship in the sky far away from her. However, the Spaceship eventually spots her and begins to approach her while releasing its tentacles and roaring. Luckily, she hid and it floated away.

During the night time when Michelle was honking her car, this attracted the attention of the mutant worm. When the creature finds her it then chases her but runs off when the Spaceship makes a loud screech, releasing toxic gas while chasing Michelle. Then the Worm appears again chasing Michelle to her car while viciously screeching and attempting to bite her. However, it disappears (Likely the spaceship ate it) as the Spaceship grabs the car with it's tentacles to reveal the Monster's face. The monster then controls the ship to go upwards bringing Michelle with it to eat. To make things worse, it comes closer while she ignites a burning bottle in hopes of killing it. Finally she throws the bottle of fire into the Alien's mouth, burning it's organs and therefore causing the ship to explode. When Michelle wakes up, she sees the ship crash-landing and then exploding in which the monster dies.

However, when Michelle was driving away, an even bigger Spaceship appears heading towards the city at the end of the film.

Trivia

• Nothing much is known from these Aliens origins and why they are invading the Earth.
• Since Cloverfield 2 was announced, it could be possible that the Aliens' backstory could be revealed in it.
• It was implied by Howard that the Aliens found "some nasty stuff" in Russia and that they were going to obtain it to make them look like "Sticks and stones".
