Ah... My precious Doppel... The proof that Magical Girls can be freed. A whole new power given to Magical Girls... Ahahaha! I will make you all into my art pieces! Sure, you won't be my best work... But I will make you beautiful! You'll be fantastic when I'm done! I expect you all to thank me when you die.
~ Alina Gray
And yet I, Alina, am well aware of how they crave destruction, even if unconsciously. They seek out dark fiction to sate their need to feel. History is rife with bloody battles and yet we have not stopped developing weapons. Quite the opposite, actually! Some even rejoice each time a conflict is created. The environment is on the brink, yet they cannot stop gorging on its bounty. They wait in anticipation of destruction and refuse to lower their quality of life. No animal in existence revels in the carnage of its own kind like humanity. In fact, humans who eliminate vast numbers of other humans are made into heroes. The more I think on it, the stronger my belief that humans desire their own destruction becomes. This is why destruction in itself is a work of art that draws people in subconsciously. And that is also the reason people value my artwork so highly.
~ Alina Gray

Alina Gray is a major antagonist of the mobile game Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story. She is one of the three Magius who lead the Wings of Magius, an organisation which seeks to prevents Magical Girls from becoming Witches.

She is voiced by Ayana Taketatsu in the game.

Appearance[]

Alina Gray is a 16 year old girl with a thin build, she is 159cm tall with pale skin and dark teal square eyes. Her hair is straight light green and reaches her hips with messy bangs consisting of a centre piece that hangs down between her eyes swooping to her left side, and two side bangs that reach below her chin, her left one dyed yellow.

In her typical Magical Girl form, Alina's hair is worn down and appears sharper than usual flaring out straight at the ends. On her head she wears a black peaked cap with a gold band going across the front and a gold cord running on top and a circular green gemstone placed at its centre, the visor of the cap has a gold stripe running along the edge of it. She wears a black vest with peaked lapels and two breast pockets, the edges are detailed with a strip of a darker black fabric. She does not wear a full shirt under her vest only a pair of white semi-translucent short puff sleeves with opaque cuffs closed with a pair of black buttons on each sleeve that appear directly connected to the vest, and a shirt collar which has a ribbon tie with gold edging and two gold stripes at the ends, which is secured by her Soul Gem which is a light green similar to her hair in a non faceted shield shape. She has a short pleated skirt which alternates between larger black pleats into two coloured pleats going through the colours in a colour wheel modified to be darker and more saturated, the bottom edge is finished with a black strip of fabric. At her waist is a brown belt adorned with a large black double layered bow with a gold stripe at its edges, and two small gold chains that drape from her left front across her right side to be fastened the back of the belt. On her legs she wears thigh high fishnet stockings topped with a band of fluffy black fur matching the bands on her wrists made from the same material, the stockings are held up by black garters with gold hardware. Her shoes are dark gray boots with a cuff that is open in the centre front, with a black stripe running down both the centre front and back and following the edges of the cuffs, there is an additional stripe going around the circumference above her ankles and the same black also colours the toes.

At school, Alina wears her hair partially tied up with a red hair tie in a loop on her left side. Her uniform consists of a white sailor collared button up short sleeved shirt with a brown stripe running along its edges, a long sleeved button up underneath with its sleeves pushed up to her elbows and a red bow loosely tied at the neck, her shirt is half tucked into her skirt and half tied into a knot at her waist. Her skirt is a brown tartan skirt pleated at the sides with a white scalloped edge poking out at the bottom with two lines of decorative buttons going up the front. She has white baggy socks that go to her upper calf and brown loafers. She wears two red hair ties on her right wrist and has her Soul Gem ring in the typical spot on her left middle finger. Lastly she wears a brown paint stained leather tool belt loosely at her waist that holds paint brushes and a pair of scissors and has a paint rag tucked into the belt at her side.

Personality[]

Alina Gray is a character of emotional extremes swinging between her cold and aloof side, and her manic and passionate side. This unpredictability alongside her unconventional and unnerving interests is a primary factor in the fear and unease she causes the protagonists.

Alina is an artistic prodigy with an unstable personality, possessing a fascination with life, death, and the line between them, brought on by the death of her grandparents and dog as a child. In normal life, she is irritable, aloof and anti-social, disliking the company of others and the fame brought on by her talents. The only person she consistently interacts with positively is her kouhai Karin Misono, who she addresses as "Fool girl" (or "idiota" in the English localised version) as they are the only two members of their school's art club, karin regularly asks her for art advice and critique valuing her opinion as her senpai and as a friend. Despite her cold attitude, and harsh critiques she genuinely cares for Karin and believes her to be a genuine artist. Taking the time to read the manga she makes and valuing it as art, despite her harsh critiques towards it, even calling it worthless and telling her in various extreme ways to destroy it. This behaviour is a refection of the same harsh standards she holds herself to.

As a magical girl, she shows her manic and sadistic attributes in combat or whenever in situations involving her pet fascinations of death and witches, the latter of which she considers to be works of art. Alina is prone to becoming enraged and even more violently homicidal if situations fail to go according to her plans or if her "artwork" is damaged or destroyed, at one point swearing revenge on Felicia for the latter and threatening to burn her hair as a way of symbolising her desire to completely wipe Felicia from the world.

In Holy Alina's Magical Girl Story, Alina Gray, learning of the Freudian concept of the death drive from Touka, became convinced that the popularity of her artwork was the result of humanity subconsciously sharing her fascination with death and desiring its own destruction. As a result of this idea Alina attempted to take control of Eve and destroy the world in the final chapter of the game, believing that her actions would create an artistic masterpiece.
