~ Alma killing Ibón for murdering Ulises - also revealing her true colors to him. |
Alma Sillero is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Ulises Gracia and Som Sisuk) of the Netflix series Welcome To Eden. She sees herself reflected in the ideals of the Eden foundation.
She serves as a major antagonist of the first season and one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Joel and Som) of the second season.
She is portrayed by Irene Dev in her acting debut.
Biography[]
Past[]
Alma came from a poor family, but did not get along with her parents who refered to her as a "worthless weak little girl", which is why she chose to live in Eden. Every month, the foundation would send her parents a money check so they could have a better life for themselves.
Season 1[]
Alma first appears when she meets Ibón during Eden's welcome party and encourages him into taking the drink when he initially didn't want to, resulting in him passing out and being left behind with Zoa, Charly, Aldo and África. When Fran, one of the members who is against the island's procedures, refuses to give a drink to a client, he is taken privately to a tent where he is scolded and brutally beaten up by Ulises for disobedience, with Alma wathcing emotionlessly. Judith, Zoa's best friend, whom she invited despite the contract forbidding her from having friends over, accidentally witnesses the event, shocking her. When they notice her, she apologizes and leaves. Not wanting any witnesses, Alma orders Claudia to get rid of her. The scared Judith tells Orson what she saw, but he assures that she's safe where she is, just before he kisses her and Brenda joins them for a threesome. The next morning, Orson and Brenda kidnap Judith, and kill her by pushing her off a cliff despite Judith swearing she didn't see anything.
Alma starts her mission to get Ibón to stay in the island, becoming his link. Ibón walks in on her playing the piano and she tells him to play it as well, but he's afraid to do so as his abusive father beat him up the last time, but Alma assures Ibón that they wouldn't do anything like that to him. Later on, she tells Astrid and Erick about Ibón playing the piano, so they bring a piano to him to play during Eden's "farewell" party, which everyone finds endearing. Alma congratulates Ibón for letting go of his fears and kisses him. However, as Zoa starts questioning the island's true nature after finding out about Judith's death, she starts growing suspicious of her and Ibón when she sees them together. Zoa tries to show Judith's dead body (which Nico, who is Zoa's link, showed her earlier), hidden in a cave, to Ibón, but it's nowhere to be found. Despite not initially believing her, Ibón recalls a painting from Patinir in which Charon was looking at hell instead of Heaven, he deduces that someone must've wanted to scare Zoa into submission, which backfired as it only made Zoa ask even more questions about Eden. After Ibón returns to Module 1 where everyone is gathered because of a heavy thunderstorm, he tells Alma about Zoa's claims that Eden killed Judith, to which Alma tells Ibón that there are things he doesn't understand about the island and that in time he'll get adapted, but Ibón flees the module and stops at the edge of a cliff where he sees Judith's dead body floating into the sea.
While everyone is asleep, Zoa attempts to kill Nico with a screwdriver, but is stopped from doing so by Claudia, her and Nico's module roommate, which Alma witnesses. Alma questions Claudia, even going as far as to bring up Fran's death, causing Claudia to snap at her. Alma "apologizes" to Claudia for offending her and smirks as she leaves. Later, when someone makes a death-threat to Astrid, she becomes furious and summons the entire comittee to decide that someone else must take the blame even if they didn't do it. Ulises suggests Eloy and Brenda suggests Zoa, starting a vote count in which Ulises, Brenda and Orson all agree that Zoa must be sacrificed while Astrid, Erick, Mayka and Saúl are opposed. In the end, they decide to make Claudia the scapegoat, as Alma previously reported her to Astrid for withholding pivotal information about Zoa.
Season 2[]
After Ulises is murdered, Astrid hires a tough military team to investigate his death and reinforce the island's security. She comforts Ibón as he is taken away by Danae with other potential suspects and Eloy to further question them. Eva makes Eloy the scapegoat for Ulises' murder, and Alma, now taking over Brenda's vacant job after she is killed by Astrid, is ordered to execute him the next morning, though not before Ibón, concerned about Eloy, breaks down in tears and confesses to having murdered Ulises. However, Alma and Orson can't bring themselves to kill Eloy. Because of this, Astrid demotes Alma to Level 1, removing her second Eden star from her wrist through burning.
Alma spends the rest of the days sad and without desire of doing anything whatsoever. Seeing that their relationship is beyond saving, Ibón starts spending time with Orson and Eloy, with whom he shares a polyamorous relationship. Alma starts having second thoughts about choosing to spare Eloy and not executing Ibón as she was supposed to, sharing her thoughts with Astrid and the rest of the members. The night Astrid is hosting the New Eden event, Ibón takes Alma for a walk and he announces that he's breaking up with her and that it's best if they stayed friends. Alma initially seems to take it rather well and gives Ibón a "goodbye-hug". Just as a confused Ibón asks what this means, Alma impales him with her shooting device, reminding Ibón that he's killed Ulises and that she shouldn't have been punished for not putting her job above all else to begin with, and watches as Ibón falls off a rock into the sea. As a result, Astrid promotes her back to Level 2.
Orson confronts Alma for killing Ibón, only for her to mock him for becoming a "softie" and stating that while Ibón was truly a good person, he still chose the wrong side. Gabi, Zoa's sister, betrays her by selling her and Bel out on their plan to blow Astrid up with bombs. Alma, without any hesitation, attempts to kill them with everyone gathered around them, but is interrupted by Gabi begging that Zoa be spared, but Zoa refuses if Bel is not spared as well. Just as Alma resumes her attempt, this one is also interrupted by the arrival of Brisa, a detective investigating the disappearance of Zoa and others who went missing in the island, leaving Eden's intentions on them uncertain.

Trivia[]
- Alma means "kind", "nourishing" and "soul". Ironically, Alma herself lacks any of these traits and, despite her relationship with Ibón, her true nature was always foreshadowed in some scenes of the first season and one of the second season.
- Four examples of this are the following:
- She emotionlessly watched as Ulises brutally tortured and beat Fran up for disobedience. She also had Brenda get rid of Zoa's friend, Judith, when she inadvertently witnessed the whole ordeal.
- When Ibón pretends to still trust Alma, even after learning that Orson and Brenda killed Judith, she keeps asking him questions about Zoa's paranoid behaviour about the island and her complicity with Claudia. Bel sees that she's up to no good, and quickly rushes to Ibón's defense with the excuse that she doesn't need many people cleaning up the stables.
- Alma questions Claudia about Zoa and what were they talking about privately in their module, to which Claudia refuses to answer. Alma takes it far by bringing up Fran's death, making Claudia snap at her. Alma apologizes to Claudia for "offending" her and leaves grining knowingly.
- Ultimately, after Ibón admits to having killed Ulises to Alma, who can't bring herself to kill Eloy (whom everyone believed to be the culprit) and is demoted from Level 2, betrays Ibón by killing him to earn Astrid's trust back and feels no remorse for her actions, proving that she actually never loved him. While she recognizes Ibón was a good person, Alma foolishly claims that he still chose "the wrong side".
- Four examples of this are the following:
- She is similar to Brenda in the second season, as she takes over her old job as Astrid's executioner and is basically as cold and heartless as Brenda was.
