Aloysius Minch (in Japanese: Umbrami Minch) is the secondary antagonist of the official novelization of Mother 2 by Saori Kumi.
Like his original counterpart, he is the patriarch of the Minch Family, acting as the husband of Lardna and the father of Picky and Pokey. He is also the next door neighbor of Ness R. and his family, acting as their rivals. In this version, he has a much more prominent role and is a widely feared businessman in EagleLand who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He is responsible for turning Ness's dad into his slave while trying to find his secret formula. His abuse would partially drive Pokey down his villainous path and he would later try to team up with him for his own goals of running a burger mart in Fourside. When his plans failed, he would flee to the Deep Darkness with him and starve himself to death.
Biography[]
Aloysius's early life is unknown. However, he is the abusive and unloving wealthy father of Pokey and Picky, being a widely feared and powerful businessman, owner of Minch Market who seeks to expand his empire, using Ness’s father as a slave to make burgers for him and having him use his secret formula (wishing to know what his formula was despite the refusal of Ness's father to tell him) so he could get more money by claiming full credit of its creation, releasing it into the public, and then sell the perfected burgers to the customers. He did this by tricking him into signing a bad contract.
He would be a bad influence on how Pokey was growing up as he would support him with gifts and covering up his actions rather than showing any love, which would turn him into a bully.
Alongside Pokey and Mayor Geldegarde Monotoli, he would end up opening both a restaurant in Fourside and a famous attraction called Bio-Ness Burger (as well as Bio-Ness Coffee) as people around town got addicted to his burgers, even famously three-hundred-seventy-two-thousand-eight-hundred units at three dollars and ninety cents each on one day, reaching thousands of customers and using Ness's father to produce them. He would observe gleefully as he profited off of Fourside. The burgers had a side effect however, as people who ate them (such as Gerado's friends) ended up losing their mannerisms and common sense, which would make people mass eat them until they collapse from exhaustion, traffic accidents, crowd rushes multiple riots and a few suicides that are mentioned. The hospital would become filled up with too many people. It is later revealed they were inflicted with fragments of the Evil Mani Mani Statue which Pokey used to please his father.
Realizing his son is becoming parasitically infected by Giygas, he is more interested in using Pokey for his own power and gain rather than showing concern for him. He blatantly shows zero care when his son collapses and has seizures and is pulled away by an ambulance, only continuing to be interested in running his business and taking joy at the money he is making.
He later escaped Fourside with his son and ends up in the Deep Darkness, though has to leave money behind to keep the helicopter going. He becomes depressed without the money and slowly starved to death out of his own stupidity, then Porky arrived at his grave and mocks him as an old bastard who deserved to die.
In an alternate reality where everything was better, Aloysius never had Pokey and raised Picky as an only child. According to Picky, he was eventually arrested for tax evasion, fraud and embezzlement.

He shares most similarities to his original counterpart but comes off as even worse and is regarded as the most revered man in town. This is apparent as he cons Ness' father and forces him on a business trip to try and break him so that he can claim the secret formula for his burgers. He is also more aware of Giygas' influence and encourages Pokey to pursue serving him just for material gain. He also shows an attraction to Ness's mother, Rachael, thinking that since he is richer, he should have her instead.
