“ | Shulk. This new world is boundless. It is home to not only you, but many forms of life. I can see it. In this world, all life will walk towards the future and in hand. | „ |
~ Alvis' departing words. |
“ | What harm did your kind do? You have done nothing wrong. You simply strode forth towards the future. But the olden humans... They did not find value in it. You must have realized? This is not where you belong. Why make a martyr of yourself? Why be a stepping stone? For as long as the old is not excised...mankind has no future! | „ |

Alvis is a supporting character in Xenoblade Chronicles and its remake, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and the main antagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. He is a mysterious individual that Shulk encounters on his travels and happens to possess the ability to use the Monado effectively. Since then, he continues to play his role as an ally of Shulk and his friends, though with a secret agenda in mind.
He is later revealed a disciple of Zanza and has acted as a spy with Dickson, watching over the growth of Shulk and his mastery of the Monado. However, towards the end of the final battle with Zanza, he reveals himself to be the true god of the world and the Monado itself. Upon this revelation, he restricts Zanza's power and allows Shulk to use the true power of the Monado. He then grants him his wish of creating a new world without gods before seemingly departing away.
Alvis is then later revealed to have originally been one of the original three cores of the Trinity Processor created by the Architect known as Ontos, who had triggered a space-time transition event that caused him to disappear from his creator and fellow siblings. Upon his arrival in Aionios, Ontos had split apart into two separate beings; A being Alvis' very human conscience and Alpha being a heartless machine who desires the destruction of the old life in Aionios.
He is voiced by Blake Ritson in the English version of the games and by Shizuma Hodoshima in the Japanese versions.
Personality[]
Alvis initially presented himself to be an enigmatic individual. He never shows any signs of emotion beyond his cold demanor but at the same time, he never displays any hostile intent and otherwise seemed friendly. Interestingly, he possesses knowledge of the Monado far beyond than what any inhabitant on Bionis knows of it, to the point that he is able to utilize said knowledge to wield it in pure succession. Throughout his encounters with Shulk and his friends, Alvis acts a guide and seer that shares his knowledge and wisdom to them, but at the same time remains cryptic regarding his true intentions.
What seemed to be clear with Alvis, however, was that he entrusts Shulk in regards to deciding the fate of the world. Even when he is revealed to be a disciple of Zanza, Alvis doesn't show any sign of hindering Shulk's progress and instead remains curious to see and remains curious to see the path Shulk walks towards.
Upon the revelation of his true nature, he reveals his true intentions of freeing the world from Zanza. It is from here that he reveals he knows more beyond the creations of Bionis and Mechonis, having possessed knowledge of the original world Klaus resided in before its destruction. For this reason, he is aware of the consequences Klaus' actions had impacted on the original world and shoulders his regret. As a result, he possesses the desire to guide Shulk in defeating Zanza in ensuring such a tragedy would never be repeated again.
However, upon Zanza's defeat, Alvis' original personality was lost. Without Pneuma and Logos to keep him in check, Alvis ended up reverting back his original programming, converting himself into Alpha, a being that holds no sympathy for the world and acts purely by logic. Witnessing the eternal conflict between Keves and Agnus has lead Alpha to believe that the world is destined to lead each other to their own demise and so decides to take action by ending it. He believes that those of the original world are no longer needed to progress through the future and has concluded the world should be reborn without a trace of its old inhabitants.
