Alvise Giordani Casati is the main antagonist of the corsican book U Sanghju di l'Isula.
Biography[]
Alvise was born to Elisabetta Orsi who had married a Ennio Caprotti a mafia boss, he was born together with his twin brother Alessandro Caprotti. Alvise was given away by Elisabetta for unknown reasons to a woman who was the wife of Pierre Giordani, an important member of the Corsican Mafia, Pierre raised Alvise as a son until his death when Alvise inherited his empire. Together with the other bosses he reigned until he fell in love with Arianna, a poor and very naive local woman who believed Alvise to be a rich heir, the two got together. However when Alvise went to France to meet an important man simply called the French man, he was betrayed and left to die. The latter managed to save himself by pretending to be dead and took revenge by killing the man but did not know that in the meantime his twin brother Alessandro had arrived in Corsica, the woman Arianna had fallen in love with the latter believing him to be Alvise.
On his return Alvise met his twin brother who had come to visit him on business, Alessandro ended up in a love affair with Arianna who believed him to be Alvise. Upon his return, the latter, enraged, left Arianna and sent Alessandro Caprotti away. Together with a trusted friend Pasquale, envious of the wealth and power of his twin and seeking revenge for Arianna's lack of honor, he invited the twin to make peace at a dinner, poisoning him and killing him. Caprotti took his name and place. When he also tried to kill Arianna, this revealed the truth to the Italians who raised them but Alvise managed to make them believe that Caprotti was now dead in France at the hands of the French man, however Arianna quickly revealed that Alvise killed him on vacation when he returned to leave her. Discovering the truth, Alvise was killed with Pasquale and a price was placed on Arianna who ran away in search of a better life.
