~ Amagami Shiro |
Amagami Shiro is one of the secondary antagonists of Nekogahara. He's the son of Jan Forest and an orchestrator of the Shimagara Revolution, a plot to convince the civilians of Japan to convert to Christianity. After his plot was discovered to be a genocidal hoax set by the missionaries, Amagami Shiro was incarcerated at The Pound before being released by Amemura Rican Short and being recruited as an enforcer to his criminal organization. He is the right-hand man of Shiriya Abyhei.
Personality[]
Amagami Shiro was a child who loved God. But his love of God was exploited by the missionaries with his father convincing him to lead his people. Shiro in spite of knowing what he was doing was wrong was convinced that his genocidal acts would help him achieve God's work. But when he realized he was just being exploited, he shows no mercy murdering his father and keeping his head as a trophy. Outside of this, he is a skilled fighter, being able to use tricks to decieve his opponents, allowing him to escape execution and survive years of exile at The Pound.
Amagami Shiro is a no-nonsense member of The Pound. Unlike his fellow members who are always bloodthirsty for civilian blood, Shiro is there to keep them in line. He always follows orders and holds his peers accountable when they disobey their master’s commands or house rules. As a result, his fellow members fear him and often listen to him to try to escape repercussions.
Biography[]
Amagami Shiro was settled on a plan set by his father during their mission to spread the word of God in Japan. Shiro would be groomed by his father to set up a rebellion in order for Japanese Christians to be taken refuge for their beliefs. Convinced he was doing the right thing, Shiro would help his father spread Christianity and punish those who refused God. As a result, his actions would lead to genocide and mass murder and brand him as a war criminal. Eventually, war ensued between the Christians and non-Christians leading to more deaths. His actions would cause so much damage in Japan, he was set to be executed but he performed a sacred miracle using his miracle technique named Zangeko beheading all his opponents around him with one swing.
Eventually, Amagami Shiro was incarcerated in The Pound, a place where a group of criminals get sent over heinous crimes. Shiro was forced to survive a toxic smoke and a hostile environment where prisoners fought to the death as punishment for his crimes. In spite of this however, Shiro managed to maintain a level of superiority over The Pound having a sort of leadership dynamic through intimidation. As a result, he became one of their figureheads alongside Shiriya Abyhei. His imprisonment would end when when a corrupt shogun by the name of Amemura Rican Short was impressed by his and his colleague's skills to survive harsh imprisonment. Wanting to use their services for his own gain, Amemura Rican Short bailed him out and recruited him and members of The Pound as enforcers as part of his criminal organization. As a result, he lived in Himetsu Castle in secrecy from the public since then and watched over his fellow released prisoners to keep them in line for the time being.
Amagami Shiro revealed his own survival from The Pound after witnessing his fellow members corner Norwe Shishiwaka in an attempt to kill him. That’s when Shiro reminded them of the house rule to not shed blood inside Himetsu Castle. Scared, The Pound tried defending themselves saying they only wanted to play a fun game with Shishiwaka. Unconvinced, Shiro attacked his fellow members causing them to bleed and ordering them to clean to their own blood. Then he turned to Shishiwaka to not return to the castle if he valued his life. After the ordeal, Shiro watched his teammates clean up their own mess from the window.
Eventually, disappointed that his brother was still a "spineless coward", Shiro snuck onto the ship along with Abyhei's raiders and attempted to stab Shishiwaka to death with his katana, so he didn't have to "suffer anymore". However, after Shishiwaka dodged the move, Shiro decided to leave it at that and leave the scene not to draw anymore unnecessary attention to himself.
As Abyhei's second in command, Shiro was ordered to kill Pinsuke who had incriminating information on their scheme and met with Norachiyo, Amemura Short, and his brother Norwe Shishiwaka. The Clowder of Extraordinary Cats attempted to save his target but were one step too late. Knowing Mukuro would arrive and would be provoked in attacking them, he told his fellow members of The Pound of her arrival, prompting to prepare by burning down Shinto's place in order to kill Norachiyo and set up a trap for her. Seeing that Little Fold and Mukuro discovered Pinsuke's body, Shiro sensed his chance to eliminate them as he slowly crept up towards them with several of his teammates camouflaged, walking towards his prey. Little Fold told Mukuro to retreat and inform the others that Shiro was coming after them, resulting in a showdown between Shiro and Little Fold.
Little Fold tried to goad Amagami Shiro into telling him his secret techniques, deliberately trying not to kill him so he can study his moves. However, each time Shiro kept striking his substitution logs without being able to grant him any information. After using up all his substitution logs, Little Fold was cornered as Shiro revealed there was 10 more copies of him. Before finishing Little Fold off, Shiro decided to show Little Fold his real face before attempting to deal his final blow. Seeing no way out, Little Fold decided to blow himself up to try to take all 11 out with him, however being unsuccessful.
Amagami Shiro arrived back at Himetsu Castle where a rebellion against their forces was happening. Shiro saw that Abyhei already stabbed Amemura Rican Short and informed him of the commotion happening outside. Not liking his creepy tone, Abyhei smashed his face with a box before ordering him to scout for Norachiyo. Instead, Shiro went off to search for his brother Shishiwaka in order to do one last duel with him.
After finding his brother, he greeted him expecting Shishiwaka to lash out at him. However, Shishiwaka remained his stance noting that what Shiro done in the past was a grievous sin against God. However, Shiro was impressed that Shishiwaka was able to find his own footing and shake his resolve to stand on his own while remaining faithful to God. But Shiro told Shishiwaka that he was God, prompting his brother to attack. However, Shiro vanished and with another strike, a seeming miracle occurred where he beheaded Shiro, but he was still fully intact. After which, Shiro consumed the area with flames, in the same manner he was to be executed. Shiro suggested that Shishiwaka should worship his brother so that his sins would be forgiven and lead their cats together, but Shishiwaka refused and still believed in God. Seeing that, Shiro decided to use his deadly technique Zangeko. However, Shishiwaka realized the trick after smelling catnip and knew that a copycat of him was coming and managed to land a hit on them before the kill.
Seeing that cat was out of the bag, Amagami Shiro decided to reveal his copies to be Japanese Christians following him. When Shishiwaka was angered that he used his subjects as pawns for his schemes, Shiro revealed that his father treated him the same way he treated Shishiwaka and only loved him because he followed his will. Shiro's motivations for following the missionaries was to just bear by it but be able to still follow his path to follow God and build his paradise on Earth even if it meant deceiving his fellow cats to the missionaries. In essence, the only difference between Shiro and Shishiwaka was how they responded to the evil with the former rejecting it entirely and Shiro using it to still follow his own path towards God. After which, Shiro revealed that he murdered their father and used his head as a prop for his tricks which angered Shishiwaka. Shiro upset that Shishiwaka wouldn't listen considered his brother unchanged. Shiro presumably died during their last duel with Shishiwaka eventually learning that even if Shiro's path was wrong, he still found salvation in himself as he followed his own path.
