Amanda Waller is a major character in the 2024 adult animated series Creature Commandos, the first installment of the DC Universe and will appear as the titular main protagonist of the upcoming 2026 superhero drama TV series Waller.
She is the former leader of the A.R.G.U.S. agency, and is responsible for the creation of Suicide Squad and Task Force M as a personal black-ops team made up of supervillains coerced into dangerous missions under threat of death by nano-bombs implanted in their brains. However, after he events of Peacemaker, she switched to non human beings for her black ops missions.
She was voiced by Viola Davis, who also played another version of Amanda Waller in the DC Extended Universe, as well as Dr. Gaul in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and The Chameleon in Kung Fu Panda 4.
Personality[]
Although claiming that her use of her team is meant to be for the better of USA, Waller frequently abuses her authority over the team to further her own personal agendas or cover up her own involvement in dangerous illegal activities.
That’s not to say she doesn’t have a heart as she seems to be a lot nicer as she worries over Rick Flag Sr’s hospitalization, gets along with John Economos despite him rebelling during Project Starfish and her sending him to Project Butterfly as payback, and also rewarded the Creature Commandos with a new room as a hangout spot.
Biography[]
Backstory[]
Amanda learns of the secrets that the United States government was holding onto Project Starfish the whole time and assigns two fractions of the Suicide Squad to Corto Maltese to destroy the evidences. One of her soldiers; Rick Flag Jr., was killed by Peacemaker during the mission.
Waller orchestrated Project Butterfly, then had her daughter Leota plant fake evidence to incriminate Peacemaker for every crime that Project Butterfly would commit. However, she was eventually exposed by Leota.
Creature Commandos[]
Following a congressional ban on using imprisoned human operatives after the fallout of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker's events, Waller still needs a black-ops team. Her solution was recruit non-human inmates, "monsters", to bypass the restrictions. This new squad was dubbed Task Force M, with General Rick Flag Sr. assigned as its leader.
The Task Force objective was protect Princess Ilana Rostovic of Pokolistan from the Amazonian rogue sorceress Circe, and her terrorist group; the Sons of Themyscira, who plan to overthrow the Pokolistani monarchy. Unlike her approach with Task Force X (using explosive devices in their heads to control them) she initially opts for electric shocks to discipline the "monster" recruits.
During the mission, Waller detains Circe and interrogates her at Belle Reve. Circe reveals a devastating vision; if Princess Rostovic remains alive, she and Gorilla Grodd will trigger global apocalypse and genocide of Earth's heroes.
Shocked by the prophecy, Waller orders the team back to Pokolistan with instructions to assassinate the Princess, despite General Flag's objections, it is later revealed that Isla MacPherson, the professor Waller consulted about Circe's powers, was killed and impersonated by Clayface, who beat General Flag until he had to be hospitalized. Waller then visited him with John Economos, and although the team initially failed to kill the princess, the Bride of Frankenstein discovered that the princess had hired Clayface and managed to finish the job, killing the future dictator. Waller then appointed her as the new leader of Task Force M.
Some point after the events, Waller step down from the role as director, being succeeded by Flag.
