Amanda the Adventurer, or simply Amanda, is the titular main antagonist of the Pilot Episode of the same name.
Unlike her full game counterpart, who is portrayed as a victim of Hameln Entertainment, the pilot version of Amanda is an implied demonic being and much more malevolent as she forces the player to watch through her tapes. She is the archenemy of the unnamed protagonist and Wooly.
She is voiced by Chelsea Lecompte.
Personality[]
Unlike her full game counterpart, Amanda here is portrayed much more evil and fully implied to be a demonic entity. She has a cheerful, energetic attitude as a television host guiding the player to make the right choice. But Amanda’s cheerfulness is rather forceful as she quickly loses her patients when the player gets things wrong, revealing a demonic, sadistic entity trying to kill you, and forces you to let her into your house.
Biography[]
Unlike her full-game counterpart, Amanda's past is mostly a mystery. It is likely that she is a demon inhabiting the tapes of the TV show Amanda the Adventurer, who forces people to watch the tapes so she can enter the real world and kill the viewer. A secret tape implies that she has been doing this for quite a while by the events of the game. The tapes of the show at some point found their way into the protagonist's attic.
The Unnamed Player finds the Amanda the Adventurer tapes in their attic, and in a hint of nostalgia, puts on the tapes. In the first tape, Amanda plans to buy some apples with her friend Wooly, disparaging his allergies to apples. She’ll ask the player to point out the grocery store, and will delete any other option if the player keep choosing incorrectly. She will then ask them to say “apple” eventually forcing the player to if they intentionally get it wrong. The episode then ends.
In the second tape, Wooly attempts to warn the player, before suddenly being stopped and the episode officially starting, with Amanda cheerfully stating going to the butcher’s shop to get meat for her Grandmother, ignoring Wooly stating her grandmother is a vegetarian. After making the player point out the meat shop, she talks to the Meat Man, and asks the player what they need, to which (either by player choice or force) say Meat. As the meat man cuts some meat, Amanda slowly turns to look at Wooly, who looks terrified before the tape ends.
In a secret tape, it seems to start in the middle of the episode as Amanda and Wooly, who is less excited, go treasure hunting, having the player choose X mark the spot. Amanda then brought some tools, a crowbar, rope (tied into a noose) and a shovel, stating that they had already used the crowbar “for the door” and the rope before she gets cut off by static before she can reveal it and then asks what they should use next. Wooly proceeds to snap and yell at Amanda before grabbing the camera, demanding the player to take the tape and burn it, as Amanda floats and transforms behind him in rage, the tape ending in static. We then see a live action section where somebody (either the player or another previous watcher) attempts to burn the tape before suddenly being manipulated and unable to do it, going back and placing the tapes away before lying to someone over the phone that they destroyed it.
In the final tape, Amanda is standing, grinning as a pile of wool is laying on the ground next to her. She states that it’s getting late and it’s time to go home, getting more desperate as she points to the house. She then asks to knock on the door, erasing any windows as she demands to be let in. After knocking, she grins and glitches out, the text on screen getting rapid as a demonic voice is heard, and the game ends as the screen cuts to Amanda transformed into her monster form, seemingly now inside the player’s house.
