Amara De Escalones is the main antagonist of the TV series Get Shorty inspired by the book that inspired the film of the same name where the antagonist is Bo Catlett.
She is the head of a powerful but now old criminal organization based in Las Vegas and Nevada, this organization is favored in illegal gambling, betting and scams and obviously given the environment that surrounds it this organization has many loan sharks in it.
Amara runs the organization with her right-hand man (Ed and "The Old Man" George) and with her lieutenant Yago who is also Amara's nephew, every now and then the organization clashes with other gangs and organizations or allies itself like with the latinos leader Swayze.
She is played by Lidia Porto.
Apparence[]
Amara appears at first glance as a plump lady with a sophisticated and snobbish personality, often displaying hateful expressions and having the appearance of someone who hates the world and is constantly angry. However, her personality is completely different, often wearing brightly colored, expensive and flashy clothes and sometimes in a suit and tie.

In the past Amara was forced by her family or some guardian to marry a rich man in an arranged marriage, after that experience she lived a horrible life and she decided to change it after some events in her past, she cut her husband throat and she probably run away.
Present[]
Amara has sporadic appearances often leaves Yago to manage her organization when she works, in fact at the beginning she appears while getting in the car with her right-hand man to go to close a deal to acquire a company and chain of amusement parks that is (possibly) connected to the Russian mafia. After arguing, two of Amara's men are given an order by Yago to eliminate a man if he does not pay his debts, the two men were Miles Daly and Louis Darnell.
After that job the man they were supposed to do business with argues over the percentage but Amara lets him go, knowing that he would return.
