Amaterasu Okami is a minor antagonist in the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok.
She is the main antagonist of Susano'o no Mikoto's Flashback during the Tenth Round and a supporting antagonist in the Tenth Round of the Ragnarok Tournament.
Amaterasu Okami is the Shinto Goddess of Sun, as well as the leader of the Three Noble Gods who rule the world from Takamagahara on Izanagi's orders, and the older sister of Tsukuyomi no Mikoto and Susano'o no Mikoto, who she decided to banish to Earth after he decided to be taught the art of swordsmen from Humans.
Appearance[]
Amaterasu Okami is a Goddess with the appearance of a beautiful woman with long hair reaching down to her feet, with two locks falling sideways from her cheeks and of the same length, bright eyes with makeup under them, lips with lipstick and long fake nails. She wears a long kimono open both below, showing her bare legs and bare feet, and above, showing her chest and half her breasts, bracelets on both arms and a scarf placed like a billowing cloud on her shoulders which goes over the head and down to the waist. She wears a long necklace all over her body and a cap adorned with the shape of the Sun. She has a Sun tattoo around her neck.
Personality[]
Amaterasu Okami is a very uncompromising Goddess who cares about the status of Gods, and considers it unacceptable or crazy that a God would want to learn something from Humans, also believing that it undermines the dignity of the Gods and be dishonorable. She considers all Gods crazy who want to learn from Humans, including his brothers. However, unlike Tsukyomi no Mikoto, she is more reasonable and wants to hear the reasons why certain decisions are made, even if in the end Amaterasu doesn't overlook them and still punishes those accomplishes, having banished Susano'o no Mikoto from Takamagahara due to his decisions.
Amaterasu always obeys the orders of her superiors, like the Shinto God of Creation Izanagi, her father. Despite her younger brother's attitude which she finds irritating, Amaterasu still loves Susano'o no Mikoto, to the point of keep an eye on him while he is exiled to Earth and supporting him during his match in the Ragnarok Tournament and to worry if he were seriously injured. When Susano'o is later defeated and killed by Okita, Amaterasu despairs for her lost brother, and to honor him she happily accepts that Izanagi saved Soji Okita's life.
Biography[]
Amaterasu Okami is the Shinto Goddess of Sun, created together with her two younger brothers Tsukuyomi no Mikoto and Susano'o no Mikoto as one of the Three Noble Gods and their leader by the Shinto God of Creation Izanagi, who given orders to rule the world, entrusting Amaterasu with command of the Heavens.
Many years later, when Susano'o no Mikoto discovers the art of swordsmanship from Humans, he returns to Takamagahara and warns his siblings Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi that he wants to learn it, only to be immediately accused by both of them to go against the rules of the Gods. Then when Susano'o decides to abandon the Three Noble Gods due to the opposition of his two siblings, Amaterasu decides to listen to his motives and, in the end, agrees to make him learn the art of Human swordsmen, while requiring him to learn them without being directly taught, and banishing him forever from Takamagahara, considering his actions dishonorable to the Gods. Susano'o accepts Amaterasu's decisions without any problem, but both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, worried about him, end up deciding to keep an eye on him anyway using mirrors.
Millennia later, during the Ragnarok Tournament, Amaterasu sits in the stands, in a place of honor, together with Tsukuyomi and Izanagi to watch the Tenth Round, during which Susano'o faces Soji Okita. In the end Susano'o is defeated and killed by Okita, which leaves Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Izanagi in sadness and despair. Immediately afterwards, both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi are first perplexed and then happy to see Izanagi heal Soji Okita saving him from death to honor Susano'o.
Powers and Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: Being the Shinto Goddess of Sun and the leader of the Three Noble Gods, Amaterasu is one of the strongest Shinto Gods of all, second only to Izanagi and Susano'o no Mikoto. As a Goddess, Amaterasu possesses physical abilities far superior to those of any ordinary Human. Her body cannot be damaged by mortal weapons, however it can still be damaged by unarmed attacks from individuals with superhuman strength and Divine Weapons. For the same reason, Amaterasu is unable to die due to old age.
Pyrokinesis: Being the Goddess of Sun, Amaterasu is likely able to control fire.

- Despite Amaterasu Okami in Record of Ragnarok rules the Heavens as the Shinto Goddess of Sun and the leader of the Three Noble Gods, she is not a Chief Goddess since in the Shinto Pantheon she is inferior in rank to her father Izanagi.
- Amaterasu Okami, in Shinto Mythology, is considered the mythical direct ancestor of the Japanese imperial family.
