She is Tara Carpenter's former friend turned nemesis and one of two Ghostface killers during the events of the fifth film. She is also the ally and the partner of Richie Kirsch. She committed many attacks together with Richie and the two of them have been plotting to create a "requel" to the Stab franchise by killing innocents. She is also the archenemy of Gale Weathers.
She was portrayed by Mikey Madison, who also played Susan "Sadie" Atkins in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. While in-disguise, she is voiced by Roger L. Jackson, and in-costume scenes were portrayed by Keith Ward and Paul Burke.
After her parents bought the old Macher house on Turner Lane, Amber became obsessed with the Ghostface killing sprees and the Stab franchise. She lurked the Stab Reddit, where she met Richie Kirsche, and the two eventually started a romantic relationship where they spent a lot of time discussing the Stab movies and their mutual disdain for Stab 8. The two wanted to make a "requel" of it by killing innocent people as Ghostfaces.
Amber was the one who attacked Tara Carpenter during the film's opening. She later took credit for this by promising to stab "all the organs she missed last time". However, it is possible that Richie was talking to Tara on the phone. A pre-recorded video taken by Richie of Amber in her bedroom was sent to Tara's cellphone to trick her into thinking Amber was in danger, thus forcing her to play along. However, Amber disabled the lock system from Tara's cloned cellphone, came inside the house and attacked Tara mercilessly.
Amber spared her life because the purpose of this attack was to lure Samantha, her sister and Richie's boyfriend, back into town. Tara was sent to the hospital, but Amber managed to escape. The following day, Sam learned that her sister had been attacked. She went to Woodsboro to be with her sister in her time of need, and Richie insisted on coming with for moral support. Later that night, Amber was out with her friends at a bar downtown. Shortly after this, Richie called and attacked Sam at the hospital, while Amber was at the sheriff's station being interrogated by Sheriff Judy Hicks.
The next day, Amber and Richie would then go to the hospital after Richie killed Sheriff Hicks and her son. Amber kills a cop in the hospital and again attacks Tara, but Richie arrives and pretends to save Tara. Amber is then shot at by Dewey Riley, however she was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time. Sam, Tara and Richie leave to safety, and Dewey returns to finish the job, but Amber kills him after Dewey is distracted with his phone.
Tara, traumatized again, vows to leave town. That night, Amber hosts a party at her house, and she goes to grab some drinks from the basement. While she was at the party, she would later attack Chad Meeks-Martin before Richie and the Carpenter sister enters the party and he asks Mindy Meeks-Martin for some drink from the basement, just so he could dress up again as Ghostface and kill whoever's needed. Amber then calls off the party and privately talks to Tara, Sam and the others. She shoots Liv before revealing herself to be the first killer and the fearsome Ghostface along with Richie.
She is then seen fighting the protagonists near the stairs. Richie pretends to help but as soon as he gets hold of the gun, he reveals his true motives and that along with Amber, he was the other Ghostface. Amber was his accomplice and enforcer as they have both wanted to create a "requel" for Stab 8 in real life, by villainizing and killing innocents.
Amber is then sent by Richie to find and kill Tara. However, Tara has escaped. Looking for Tara, she goes into the kitchen and has a rough battle with Sidney and Gale. She foolishly begs for her life even after taunting Gale about Dewey’s death, but out of experience, Gale furiously shoots her to knock her back into the stove while she's covered in hand sanitizer, setting her on fire and severely burning her all over her body.
After Richie is defeated and killed, she recklessly comes running into the scene with intent of killing everyone. However, she is shot in the head by Tara, killing her instantly.
Like Richie, Amber is an insane and violent murderer, but she is clearly far more savage and unhinged than Richie, as her sadism is based on thrill-seeking and curiousity rather than self-righteousness and delusions about saving the Stab franchise. The directors have confirmed that even though Richie was the dominant half of their team, Amber is the one who thought up the idea of a killing spree and did most of the killing. Despite her treacherous nature, she does seem to be geniunely loyal to Richie and just like him, she enjoys killing and harassing other people. She never showed true loyalty to anyone besides Richie, and she was obsessed with creating the requel for him and killing others for her own satisfaction.

Amber: You know what the biggest problem with the Stab movies is? There’s no Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees. No bad guy to keep coming back. But the illegitimate daughter of the original mastermind? Now that’s a f---ing villain. Sam : How did you know? Amber: About your father? It’s a small town and your mom’s a drunk! I met Richie on the Stab subreddit. I’ve been obsessed ever since my parents bought this house. We realized pretty quickly we had similar ideas.
~ Amber explaining her motive.
Amber: But it wouldn’t work with just you, Sam. See, we had to bring the legacy characters back to make it matter. Can’t have a bona fide Halloween without Jamie Lee! Richie: Nope! Amber: Dewey had to die to make it real. To show that this wasn’t just some bullshit, cash-in, run-of-the-mill sequel. Because our movie has f---ing stakes ! ‘Cause anyone can die in a requel.
~ Amber further explaining her motives, along side Richie.
One of you is a f---ing killer.
~ Amber Freeman.
F---ing hand sanitizer, really?!
~ Amber Freeman.
Amber: No, stop, stop, stop! I’m sorry about Dewey. Gale: F--k you!
~ Amber begging for mercy, before being shot and lit ablaze, by Gale Weathers.
Amber is very similar to Mickey Altieri. Both are the deadliest killer of their pairs and did most of the murders yet are the secondary antagonists of their respective films. However, Amber was loyal to her partner, while Mickey was planning to sell Debbie out during his trial.
Amber was the one who attempted to kill Chad Meeks-Martin, since Richie was with Sam and Tara at the time.
