“ | These toms, like you, they come to be in droves. They swear to me they'll bring me his head, they ask me for soldiers and money. And, yes, if I put an end to him I would go up in the world. But at the same time, it would stir up a whole new hornet's nest. Which is to say... I like things just fine the way they are now. | „ |

“ | Of course you don't understand. I never taught you anything. But you've learned something more important, all on your own. Look down there. The cats of this castle heard your voice and stood together to fight. It is a wonderful sight to behold... I have no more regrets. Take it. This katana has been passed down in our family for generations. | „ |

Biography[]
Prior to the events of Nekogahara, Amemura Rican Short survived a great war in Japan with his master the Red Warrior taking part in it. After the death of his master the Red Warrior, he eventually became a shogun of Himemasu Castle. With the title, he abused it to become a corrupt crime lord. He gave birth to his son Amemura Short who would grow up into his criminal business. As a result, he's still highly respected by his civilians and peers.
After Norachiyo's killings over Amemura's Gang was done, Shishiwaka informed Amemura Rican Short of the ordeal prompting some interest in him over knowing Norachiyo visited his town. When Shishiwaka requested that he'd lead charge for the hunt of Norachiyo however, Amemura Rican declined saying not did Shishiwaka already failed to kill Norachiyo but that he suspects that killing Norachiyo wouldn't be beneficial for his position and that he preferred things the way they are. When Shishiwaka told him that Amemura planned to kill Norachiyo himself, Amemura Rican claimed that his son was a fool and that his reckless death would do him a service.
Eventually, Shiriya Abyhei of The Pound was revealed to be a traitor and turned The Pound in allegiance to the Furreign Nations. Knowing he would be executed, Amemura Rican Short played dead after Abyhei stabbed him in the gut. His son Amemura Short came rushing in alongside his other subjects who came towards his aid. After getting shot, Amemura Rican Short decided to admit that in spite of his son being a failure as a criminal, he is a wonderful leader as he never gave up on his citizens. As a result, Amemura Rican Short offered his son the family Katana so he can continue his path as a shogun. But Amemura Short declined the katana and decided he would choose his own path being the next shogun in line but found a new respect in his father who loved him in his own way.
