~ The Female Recruiter to a homeless man; her only lines.

The American Recruiter is a minor antagonist of Netflix's K-drama Squid Game. She is an unnamed recruiter for the Squid Game branch in LA, America.

She was portrayed by Cate Blanchett, who also played Irina Spalko in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Marissa Wiegler in Hanna, Penelope in Family Guy, Lady Tremaine in the live-action Cinderella remake, and Hela in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Biography[]

Squid Game[]

The American Recruiter was spotted by Hwang In-ho during his trip to the US, enticing a homeless man in LA street to play Ddakji with her.

Squid Game: America[]

She will most likely appear in Squid Game: America.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being an American, she can be seen playing Ddakji just like the Korean recruiter, and Ddakji isn't a popular game in the US. However, since Squid Game is originally from Korea, the Squid Game franchise in the US has to follow the same procedure as dictated by franchising agreements.
    • This game does appear in Squid Game: The Challenge as it's a reality competition show.
      • This has caused criticism from many fans who wished she had played the Milk caps game instead, due to the game being similar to Ddakji, but is more popular in the US.
  • She's the only Westerner who isn't VIP.
  • Despite being known as the "American Recruiter", her actress, Cate Blanchett is Australian.
  • It's possible that, like the Korean recruiter, the Female Recruiter was also one of the Masked Men before becoming a recruiter for the American franchise. Additionally, it's possible she was a winner of a previous Squid Game in America.
  • The American Recruiter is the only role of Cate Blanchett in Asian media.
