Amplivolt is a minor antagonist in the manga/anime series My Hero Academia. He is a former member of the Meta Liberation Army, and later a top-ranked advisor of the Paranormal Liberation Front.
He is voiced by Satoshi Yamaguchi in the Japanese dub and Bill Butts in the English dub, who also voiced Slidin' Go in the same series, as well as Cioccolata in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part V: Golden Wind, and Jack in One Piece.
Biography[]
Amplivolt was present at Gunga Mountain Villa when it was ambushed by Pro Heroes. As Skeptic watches in shock as the heroes make their approach, Amplivolt appears and suggests that they change their tactics if they want to win, and leads an army of villains against the heroes.
He charges up his Meta Ability at full power and fires it at the heroes, unleashing his Ultimate Move Supreme Discharge: Thundernet. However, Denki Kaminari is able to absorb the electricity to nullify his attack. Surprised, Amplivolt prepares to launch another attack, questioning how many volts Denki will be able to withstand. However, before he can do so, Edgeshot and Midnight unleash an attack that stuns Amplivolt and knocks him out, removing him as a threat from the war.
He is later arrested for his participation in the Paranormal Liberation Front's plan, and is imprisoned at an unknown prison.
Personality[]
Amplivolt is visibly overconfident in his own ability, as he brushes off the need to wait for Shigaraki to wake up before beginning to fight back against the heroes. Despite his arrogance, he adapts to situations quickly, as he doesn't remain caught off guard for long after Denki's attack overpowers his before he attempts to strike back again. Still, he pales in comparison to many of his comrades in terms of strength.
