The unnamed parents of Ana are the main antagonists of The Child. Although initially depicted as the parents who were pressured on raising their child with psychic powers, Ana, to the point that they couldn't take it anymore as they handled their responsibility by hiring a babysitter to watch her, Kiki, it was revealed that they were rather abusive parents towards Ana as they had no hesitation to murder her when they were pressured with the mother being the worst of the two as she perceives Ana as nothing but a monster to be killed and the father spending his time as a spineless coward unable to stand up towards his wife.
Appearance[]
The mother is depicted as a beautiful mother with a long, black hair as she wore a makeup on her face including an eye shadow and a lipstick while also wears a sleeveless red dress and also wears a golden round earring. Meanwhile, the father himself is depicted as a scrawny man that was seemingly beaten up as he has a short brown hair, brown eye irises and wearing a blue suit with a light blue stripped shirt tucked inside of it. Due to taking care of Ana has taken their toll on their sanity, they also support an eyebags and as the game went by, their hair becomes a lot messier.
Personality[]
Although they were portrayed as sympathetic people at first due to the pressure that they had endured raising their problem child. However, as the time went by, it was then revealed that they were abusive towards their own daughter as at one point, they dislike the way she played by using her psychic power to do so and asks her to be normal, refusing to bring her to schools and also orders Kiki to not give her a treat so long as she behave well. In addition to all of this, they attempt to ignore Ana so that they could liberate themselves from taking care of her.
While the father is portrayed as a spineless coward most of the time unable to stand for his wife, the mother is the most evil of the two as she perceives Ana having no future and views her as nothing but a monster. As the end of the game hits, after the pressure taken its toll on them, the parents, especially the mother, suddenly becomes insane and has no hesitations to stab Ana several times just to get rid of her while also attempting to get rid of Kiki because of the psychic powers she had possesses while being elated by the prospect on killing both of them. Even if Kiki decides to with their point of view, they still try to kill her anyways in order to cover their tracks. In the end, they were the ones who brought the misfortunes upon themselves due to the mother's pompous nature, refusing to hear the doctor's advice to bring Ana to a facility so that they could live a happy and normal life.
Biography[]
The parents were at first introduced in the doctor's office about discussing on sending Ana to the facility where she can be converted into a normal child with the father saying that they were having a hard time to find the place. When being suggested by the psychologist to be sent into facility, the mother simply refuses because she claims that her daughter is special. This resulted in the doctor warns the parents that things won't end well for them in the end.
After the conversation with the doctor, the father then becomes confused about finding other alternatives as they couldn't send Ana to a normal school in which the mother responded that she doesn't need it and can give Ana everything she needs at home while refusing to be dragged to anymore doctors. As Ana was locked inside the closet thanks to the problem she had caused towards the parents, her mother scolded her because of her poor behavior which causes Ana using her psychic powers that made the house rather chaotic as she wrecks the closet door with her psychic powers.
Because of Ana's psychic power that made the father paranoid, the mother had no choice but to murder her daughter with a knife due to the pressure she had gotten as the father felt rather conflicted about his wife decision until they decided to get away from the house by calling the babysitter, Kiki, in order to take care of Ana.
As Kiki met with the parents during her first day of her work on babysitting Ana, the mother scolds Kiki for being late while the father was surprised about her young age in which she responded that she gains tons of experience as a babysitter. When Kiki asks the parents about the Emergency Contacts and the rules of the house, the mother tells Kiki that she is forbidden going upstairs and when being asked if she could meet with her daughter, the father then told Kiki that she won't meet with their daughter if she was lucky as they decided to leave the house in the end.
After running away from Ana's demonic teddy bear that chases her, Kiki then met with the parents again as both of them were surprised that Kiki was still alive as her sanity was still intact. As a result, the mother decided to make a little arrangement for Kiki to watch Ana for time to time. If the players decided to make Kiki decline the offer, the mother warns Kiki that she made a huge mistake on turning down the offer as Kiki spent her vacation time at the beach.
However, if the players decided to agree with the arrangement, the parents then give her a huge amount of payment just to babysit Ana as Kiki decides to stay optimistic even if she suspected that the house is haunted at first. During the night, when the father asks the mother if things are going to be better soon for them and also talking about the unfortunate fate that will befall towards Kiki, the mother decides to scold the father as she wants to go to sleep.
As the next day hits, the father then tells Kiki that he had done some cleaning and had stocked the fridge with several foods and treats while the mother tells her to forbid Kiki giving Ana good treats from the fridge unless if she behaves properly before leaving again. After finishing to successfully babysit Ana in the second time as Kiki met with the parents again, they were surprised to find Kiki in one piece albeit the father was elated after getting out from the house. During the night, one of the parents suspected that Ana has become worse as the time went by because on how she manages to keep Kiki intact with her as the mother perceived that Ana has no bright future ahead for her while also viewing her as nothing but a monster.
During the next day of babysitting Ana, as Kiki and Ana hang around together, Ana then tells her experience about her parents telling her to play musical instrument until they decided to make her stop because they didn't like the way she play which resulted in Kiki trying her best to comfort her. After Kiki encountering with the parents at the end of the day as she prepared to go home, Ana then teleports in front of them in which the mother scolded her for her inappropriate behavior even if the father was more apathetic as he is aware that Kiki already discovered Ana has psychic powers.
After the conversation, Ana then decides to ask her parents about where Kiki will be going in which the latter responded that she will be back soon tomorrow and will play with Ana again. When Ana asked her mother if Kiki can stay in their house, she decides to responded by saying that she will come tomorrow and as she pleads to her father that she promised to become a nice kid towards him in order to let Kiki stay, he responded by saying that she needs to be patient in which Ana expressed a frustration by saying that she likes Kiki and hates living besides her parents which causes her house to become chaotic again thanks to her psychic powers while her father orders Kiki to leave the house as fast as she could.
After Kiki confronts Ana in her mind and decided to comfort her by making a promise that she would make a happy memory just for her, the mother then stabbed Ana while the father only watches the spectacle because he assumed that Ana has already taken Kiki's mind just like the other sitters which resulted in them having no choice but to killing her. If the player decided to agree on the parents' mindset about them perceiving Ana as a monster, they will reach the bad ending "No Witnesses", as the parents decided to murder Kiki at the end in order to eliminate witnesses of their crime as the mother mercilessly murders Ana while ordering the father to clean up the body.
However, if the player decides to call out on their behavior, the mother decides to kill Kiki in a fit of rage after being called out as a form of teaching her a lesson and when discovered that Kiki has psychic powers, the mother then becomes elated on the prospect of killing two monsters in one stone. As the mother attempts to murder Kiki, Ana decides to use her psychic powers as a last resort to kill her parents for good by decapitating them, becoming saddened with the fact that her parents never liked her in the first place.
In one of the endings, if the player decided to not spare Ana, they would reach the bad ending, "Ana's Revenge", where the parents were surprised about Kiki running away while asking about where she is going and also being surprised with the disappearance of her daughter's body.
