Ana Maria, mainly disguised as Ravena, is the main antagonist of the Adrian x Isolde series.
Originally a powerful witch who survived King Dragos' purging of the witches, she watched as her cousin Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev made a deal with the goddess Dis in order to become strong enough to destroy those that opposed him, and so he could live long enough to marry the reincarnation of his deceased wife, Yesenia. Ana knew that Adrian's deal could be the world's downfall, due to the destructive nature of Dis, so she began plotting for a way to kill him in order to stop his carnage.
Biography[]
Past[]
As a witch of the High Coven, Ana used her powers to help others. However, the vile King Dragos soon began to resent the witches due to their power, and would rape Ana one night while she was in his vicinity. This event heavily scarred Ana, and would act as the catalyst event for her actions in the years to come.
Eventually, Dragos' resentment spiralled into paranoia, and he ordered a mass purging of all witches, with the apparent exception of his personal witch; Ravena. Ana managed to survive the purging, and it is implied that she killed Ravena out of spite and stole her identity, which she would only use in later years.
However, while Ana managed to survive, Yesenia, Adrian's wife, was not so lucky, and the grief he felt for his wife twisted his mind to darkness. He vowed revenge against the world for allowing such cruelty to occur, and even made a deal with Dis in order to help him achieve this revenge. Dis used Adrian's phrasing of him wanting to "taste the blood of his enemies" against him, and gave him the power he sought as a vampire, becoming the Vampire King of Blood.
Ana witnessed this event in horror, due to her knowing that a deal with a destructive goddess like Dis would only hurt Adrian in the long run. Shortly after Adrian was turned into a vampire, he bit and turned Ana into one as well.
King of Battle and Blood[]
Ana welcomed Isolde, the reincarnation of Yesenia, to the Red Palace, the former home of King Dragos that Adrian took over after killing him. Upon learning that Isolde did not have her memories of her life as Yesenia back, Ana did her best to help Isolde out. She used her medical knowledge to heal Isolde on many occasions, and demonstrated no ill will towards her, despite secretly using her stolen identity as Ravena to cause mass destruction on surrounding kingdoms, attempting to create a power strong enough to defeat Adrian.
The Red Mist, a destructive force created by Isolde in her past life but harnessed by Ana as Ravena, was used to invade Revekka in an attempt to cause havoc that could kill Adrian, but the attempt was thwarted. After Isolde defeated 'Ravena', she fled the battle and returned as Ana, who would falsely mourn the soldiers and civilians lost to the Red Mist.

Ana Maria is an overall kind person, who doesn't seem to enjoy the evil acts they emit. They see their actions as necessary in order to stop the larger evil of an all-powerful Adrian possessed by Dis, and are willing to do anything it takes in order to succeed. However, they do not wish to harm Isolde, who was their friend when she lived as Yesenia, and even tries to turn her against Adrian after revealing herself.
Trivia[]
- It is currently unknown if Ana Maria is actually the same Ravena from the past, or simply using the former witches' identity, but due to the fact that Ana and Adrian are biologically related, it seems more likely for Ana to be simply using Ravena's identity rather than actually having been Ravena all along.
