Anansi is a trickster god who takes the form of a half-man half-spider who appears as an antagonist in the mexican animated series Legend Quest: Masters of Myth. He uses illusions to enter his victims mind and collect their stories, so he can feed on them.

He was voiced by Catalina Múzquiz in hispanic language and by Carolyn Zeller in english dub.

Appearance[]

Anansi is a centaur-style being. He has pale purple skin, lips and chin, while he also has brown markings and ears. He has shaved crested hair and dark blue eyebrows. He has 5 spider eyes (2 main and 3 in the forehead) of black and white color. He has 2 brown fangs with a yellow tip in the upper part, while he has 2 other yellow fangs in the lower part. He has a yellow and ringed neck, while his torso is brown. He has 3 fingers on each hand, with extended yellow claws. Around his neck, he has an ultramarine blue collar with a golden spider bead, on a light blue background. His waist is of a darker brown tone, having 6 dark blue and pale spider legs. He has a huge dark blue abdomen, with a stinger (also called hirera) of a paler tone in itself.

Personality[]

Anansi is a cunning and certainly deceitful being. However, he also gets to be empathetic with those who give him his trust (like when he agreed together with Efrit and Gargouille to distract Coyolxauhqui, Bling and Brother Grace as long as Leo could activate the machine in time).

Description[]

This is how the Anansi's illusions work. Depending on his mood, he can make his illusions show a specific victim their ideal perfect day, or one of their most troubling fears. With the charm amulet he wears around his neck, the Anansi can enter his victims mind and collect their stories, this makes him efficient at spinning illusions to trick people. The Anansi webs up his victims with intent on feeding on them and eventually leaving them as husks.

This is how the Anansi is defeated. When Leo manages to get free of his illusion and knock off the Anansi's amulet, freeing the others in the process, Marcella uses the amulet to cast an illusion in which she betrays Leo by giving the creature back his amulet, this leads to a swordfight between Teodora and Marcella, and the trickster god takes advantage, proclaiming "I cannot be defeated, I cannot be out-tricked, I am a god!" as he webs up everyone. When Anansi turns to Leo, the amulet suddenly disappears, and that's when the Anansi realizes, much to his horror, that he had been out-tricked and is now trapped in an illusion himself.

History[]

It is known that he is a demigod, half man and half spider. With the help of his amulet, he creates ilussions in his victims to learn their stories and fears. In that, he wraps them in cocoons to probably devour them afterwards.

Biography[]

Anansi's biography in "Legend Quest: Masters of Myth" revolves around his attempts to capture Leo and his friends using his illusionary powers and cunning trickery. However, he ultimately meets his downfall when he is outsmarted by Marcella and trapped in his own illusion.
