The Ancient Dragon-man is a minor antagonist and optional boss in the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. Originally a human warrior, who practiced Dragon Communion, he would assume an anthropomorphic dragon form for unknown reasons.
Biography[]
The origins of the Ancient Dragon-Man are a mystery, but as his main weapon is a great katana, it's possible that he originated from the Land of Reeds. He would eventually become a Dragon Communion warrior, who practiced Dragon Communion, a historical practice founded by Dragonlord Placidusax so as to beckon warriors to their cause of hunting down Drakes to consume their hearts and acquire draconic powers so as to punish Bayle the Dread and his offspring for his betrayal.
At some point, the Ancient Dragon-Man would turn from being a dragon-hunter and tracker to the arbiter of those worthy to devour Bayle (or the Dread One). He would then claim the heart of a drake he was implied to have killed and used it to assume the form of an anthropomorphic dragon.
