The Ancient One is the overarching antagonist of the YouTube short sketch "The Tooth Brushing Song" by Will McDaniel. It is a mysterious being who lives in the woods and demands sacrifices of human teeth, taking on Will as a cultist to do its bidding.
While referred to as "he" in the verse of the song that described it, the same verse also referred to the Ancient One as "they," and the creature's enigmatic, inhuman nature may mean it does not have a distinct gender.
Appearance[]
The Ancient One is a strange being that resembles a twisted, leafless tree, standing taller than a human, but many of its contorted branches are covered in flesh rather than wood, with the flesh resembling human gums and possessing human-like teeth growing from them. At the top of its body, the Ancient One appears to have a somewhat distinct head with two long knobs protruding from it, but in place of a face, it has a ring of gums with teeth protruding from them.
Personality[]
The Ancient One is an enigmatic being, with very little of its personality known, but it is known that it has an insatiable lust for human teeth, for reasons unknown. The Ancient One desires that these teeth be sacrificed to it, and it is also willing to take on followers to use as agents to collect the teeth for it through any means necessary. Due to the nature of the song, it is also possible that the Ancient One is a staunch supporter of proper dental hygiene, as Will spent most of the song singing about brushing teeth.
History[]
At some point in time, the Ancient One dwelled in the woods near a human settlement, where it desired human teeth as sacrifices. One day, a man named Will took a walk through the woods, and found the Ancient One, who took Will as a cultist. The Ancient One demanded a sacrifice of human teeth, so Will collected as much teeth as he could as an offering. However, the Ancient One demanded more, its dental lust being insatiable, so Will began taking drastic measures to bring it more teeth, including assaulting a man on the street to forcefully brush the man's teeth and presumably steal them. While the Ancient One's abilities are unknown, it is possible that it is responsible for warping Will's body, as Will later possessed a mouth on his back and was able to regurgitate copious amounts of teeth, and the Ancient One may also be responsible for creating the other grotesque teeth-themed creatures and objects throughout the video.
