Get it, man... Nobody in our class protects Joosep.
~ Anders to Kaspar.

Anders Allikmäe is the main antagonist of the 2007 Estonian film The Class (original title: Klass).

He is a high-school bully who takes pleasure in tormenting people he considers inferior or weak. His aggressive personality makes him the leader of a group of bullies whose main victim is Joosep Rääk, a quiet and introverted classmate.

He was portrayed by Lauri Pedaja.

Personality[]

Anders has a sadistic personality and a total lack of remorse for his actions, showing some sociopathic traits during the film. He enjoys humiliating Joosep in public, often taking his bullying to more extreme levels. He being a very violent and unstable person, managed him to control his entire class to continue harassing Joosep and later Kaspar. Like any bully, Anders was shown to have some cowardly tendencies throughout the film, as only targeting his victims while in group, and when losing the fight against Kaspar on the beach, he pulls out a pocket knife to gain advantage over him.

Biography[]

The Class[]

Anders Allikmäe is a student at an Estonian high school and the main leader of a group of popular boys from his class, who, alongside with their classmates, occasionally torment and harass any time they can a fellow student named Joosep Rääk. One day, after a basketball game, Anders and his gang undress Joosep, tossing him into the girls' locker room. This event leads Kaspar Kordes to stop bullying Joosep and start defending him, making Joosep to finally find some solace in the company of a friend. However, their friendship only triggers Anders more, who sees any kind of solidarity as a threat to his authority, so he begins bullying not only Joosep, but also Kaspar, turning the whole class against them. Anders participates in various forms of abuse, his bullying escalates from verbal insults and spreading false rumors about Joosep and Kaspar being a gay couple, to severe physical assaults, creating a toxic environment in the school.

Despiste Joosep attempts to avoid conflict, his mother finds signs of physical abuse on his body, and without Joosep's knowledge, she notifies the school about Joosep being bullied by his entire class. This outrages Anders and his group, and as retaliation, they write fake email messages to Kaspar and Joosep for them to meet at a beach. Once there, Anders and the class force Kaspar to perform oral sex on Joosep, while photographing the act. This event leaves both Joosep and Kaspar mentally destroyed as they decide to avenge themselves.

The next morning, Joosep steals his father's guns stored in a safe. Armed, the pair enters the school cafeteria and find Anders sitting next to his group. Joosep and Kaspar open fire, aiming at their tormentors. During the shooting, Anders' dominance evaporates, revealing his vulnerability and fear. The once powerful bully is reduced to a terrified victim running for his life as he faces the consequences of his actions. After the duo manages to shoot most of their bullies, the massacre ends when Anders is shot in the shoulder by Kaspar, and then shot two times in the chest by a furious Joosep, killing him.

Class: Life After[]

Anders has a posthumously role mentioned occasionally in the miniseries after the film, Class: Life After, where even some teachers and students defend him and allow Joosep and Kaspar to be seen as the murderers, without taking into account the magnitude of Anders bullying. A photo of Anders can be seen in the school's memorial of the deceased(including Joosep) from the massacre.
