~ Andou being offended after being called a coward by Shun Uruma. |
Midori Andou (安堂 緑 Andō Midori) is a major antagonist in the 2020 Japanese psychological manga series Juujika no Rokunin.
He is a high-ranking member of the Revolution Club and the most loyal cultist of the club’s leader, Shigoku Kyou. He is the secondary antagonist of the Kyou arc and the titular main antagonist of the Andou arc.
Biography[]
Andou's past is unknown, other than that he has been best friends with Kurusu since elementary school and enlisted in the military only for the purpose of killing people.
He is first seen in chapter 65 in a meeting led by Kyou. Later, Kyou reveals him, Momoki, Miguel, and Nogi that Jun Shirakawa has become a new member of their allies. He and the others captured a thief named Nakamura Masahi who tried to steal the club’s money and takes him to the “factory”. Andou “rehabilitates” the man by torturing him into a fellow revolution soldier. The members kidnap Shun Uruma’s young brother, Kakeru, and brought him to the elementary school and forces both of them to play a deadly match of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” with Jun. If Shun loses, Andou will mutilate Kakeru with a chainsaw, which the fellow researcher saws off the younger brother’s right leg in the first round.
After a couple of rounds, Shun’s grandpa, Shun Uruma Sr. escapes from the chain by sawing off his foot. Gramps challenges Andou while the latter uses a chainsaw against him. Andou remembers why he joined Kyou’s group and he attempts to kill Kakeru for being weak. But Gramps takes the hit and dies to save Kakeru, but for Kyou to walk up behind and stabbed him. After Shun kills Nogi and slashes Kyou’s eye across his face, he escapes with Andou and Momoki from the elementary before the police arrived.
Five years later, Andou has been still active with the Revolution Club located on an island, where he participated in their training camp at some point. Uses a room called the “Barking Room” where he tortured and kills animals for his sadistic amusement. After Shun and Kawana Mimi, a member of Juujika that is disguised as a clinic, arrives at the camp, Andou is informed of this and kidnaps Shun to torture him. Soon, after Mimi and another fellow member of the Revolution Club try to escape the island and ran into Kitami Kougo, head of the clinic, finds Shun, who was brutally tortured, continues his vengeance and meets Andou as the researcher was thrilled to see Shun standing.
As he prepares to kill Uruma and cover him in more blood, he imagined him as a deer, scared and trembling and thinking of ways to hurt him more. He decides to kill him the same way he did to his gramps and charges right at him. Suddenly, his right eye side goes black and pinned down to the floor by Uruma, who throw the knife at Andou's eye and pushes down on it, which was taught by Gramps himself, indirectly losing to him. Just as he about to kill him, Reo and Kurusu barged into the room in the same position as Uruma and Andou, surprising both the former and the latter.
He saw Uruma as a deer, afraid and shivering and thinking of ways to hurt him more as he prepared to murder him and cover him in more blood. He intends to kill him directly in the same manner as he did to Gramps. His right eye side suddenly turns black and is pinned to the ground by Uruma, who throws the knife towards Andou's eye. Reo and Kurusu burst into the room in the same position as Uruma and Andou, surprising both of them as he was about to kill the other. Later, Andou and Kurusu are placed in what appears to be the Scavenger's Daughter by Kitami in order to be tortured by Uruma and Reo.
While Kurusu was being tortured by Reo, Andou wakes up surprised to witness him in continual anguish. Uruma makes fun of Andou, who screams at him for thinking Uruma and Reo should be the ones suffering while he looks down on them. He tells him that there are two kinds of people in the world: the one who inflicts pain and the one who receives it. He promises to cause him the same suffering that he did to his grandfather and younger brother once he escapes. Uruma starts to use the device to rip Andou's muscles apart. Andou, however, is able to withstand the pain since he is "the one who inflicts pain" on others. Andou loses his ability to fight the pain as Uruma pauses the machine's rotation and proceeds to chop off his fingers with a pair of scissors. Andou yells in pain as Uruma shows his fingers to him.
When he attempts to talk his way out, Reo hugs Kurusu and breaks his neck, killing him instantly. Andou is devastated by the loss of his only friend since they were the only two people with whom he shared a similar understanding. He describes his history with Kurusu, only to be smacked by Uruma, and urges him to stop talking. Uruma reaches for his knife and tries to stab Andou in the eye, but he drops it and appears to have failed. As soon as Andou begins to criticize Uruma for being too frail, Uruma splashes gasoline in his face and lights him, Kurusu, and the island on fire. While he, Reo, and the rest made their escape on a boat, Uruma stole one of Andou's fingers and phone in the hopes of using it to find Kyou's location.
