Andre "Old Face Andre" Tonesin is a minor antagonist in HBO's The Wire.

He is portrayed by Alfonso Christian Lover.

Biography[]

Old Face Andre owns a convenience store in West Baltimore that doubles as a stash house for Marlo Stanfield.

After Omar Little robs Andre's stash house, Marlo takes Andre's prized silver ring as compensation. Andre tells him that the ring has sentimental value, to which Marlo replies that he doesn't care about sentiment. After Marlo himself is robbed by Omar (who takes the ring in the process), Marlo gives Andre a part in his scheme to get back at Omar.

Marlo's enforcer Chris Partlow kills a delivery woman delivering to Andre's convenience store, after which Andre calls the police and says Omar did it. In the course of the investigation, the police show Andre a photo array of suspects and Andre is quick to identify Omar as the killer. While there are holes in Andre's story (Omar would never kill a civilian), the detectives involved either consciously or unconsciously overlook any logical errors because they want to be able to charge Omar.

Detective Bunk Moreland sees right through Andre, and after visiting the crime scene, disproves Andre's identification of Omar and has Andre brought to court on a subpoena. Upon learning that perjury carries a minimum sentence of ten years in prison, Andre panics and backs up on his original story.

Fearing Marlo's wrath, Andre looks to Proposition Joe for protection, but unbeknownst to Andre, Marlo had just joined Joe's Co-Op. Andre makes a deal with Joe to give him his store in exchange for $2,000 and safe passage out of Baltimore. Joe's right-hand Slim Charles meets up with Andre, seemingly to drive him out of town, but he instead leads Andre into a back alley where he is greeted by Chris and Snoop. Andre pleads for Chris and Snoop to kill him in his own house rather than a vacant, but to no avail.
