Andre Baptiste Jr. is the secondary antagonist of the 2005 crime drama Lord of War. He is the extremely sadistic, and cannibalistic son of Liberian Dictator and Warlord, Andre Baptiste. He was portrayed by Sammi Rotibi.
History[]
Andre Baptiste Junior is first seen greeting Yuri Orlov upon entering Liberia. After Yuri attempts to opt out of meeting his father, Baptiste Jr. subtly threatens him should he refuse. According to Yuri, Baptiste Jr. is a cannibal who eats his victims hearts out (though this is never shown in the film). After escorting Yuri to his hotel, he requests that Yuri bring him the M60 machine gun with armor-piercing rounds from Rambo First Blood, which Yuri later obliges.
Baptiste is mostly shown by his father's side, supporting him throughout his schemes. Towards the end of the film, Baptiste Jr. is sent with Yuri and his brother Vitaly to Sierra Leone in order to sell guns to his father's allies. When Vitaly has a chance of heart upon watching a family be brutally slaughtered by the men they're selling to, Baptiste Jr. pulls a gun on Vitaly and demands he put the grenade he had back in the crate. Vitaly would then hit Baptiste across the face with a crowbar and blow up the truck next to him. Junior is killed by the oncoming explosion, and Vitaly is shot down not long after. Baptiste Jr.'s death turned out to be the final straw with his father's partnership with Yuri, as he cuts all ties with him soon after.
