Andrei (Russian: Андрей) is a minor antagonist in the 2008 action video-game Grand Theft Auto IV. serving as the secondary antagonist of the mission "Crime and Punishment".
He is a low-ranking Russian mobster apart of the Faustin Crime Syndicate in Liberty City and is at best a dimwitted goon involved in the kidnapping of Niko Bellic and his cousin early in the story.
He was portrayed by the late Sándor Técsy.
Personality[]
Andrei is portrayed as a somewhat expendable figure within the Russian Mafia. He’s not given much development, but his role as a messenger and henchman highlights his low rank. His encounter with Niko and Roman underlines the tension within the Faustin Bratva, where violence and betrayal are commonplace.
Biography[]
Background[]
Andrei was a low-ranking member of the Russian Mafia, working primarily for Dimitri Rascalov and Mikhail Faustin. His duties often took him to areas around Hove Beach and Firefly Island, where he participated in the criminal operations of the Faustin Bratva. It is known he was in the Russian army when he was younger, stationed in Vladivostok.
Grand Theft Auto IV[]
Andrei is tasked by Dimitri Rascalov with finding Niko Bellic and his cousin Roman, who had become a problem after Niko killed Vlad Glebov, a prominent gangster and Faustin associate. Roman's paranoia leads to his being kidnapped along with Niko. Andrei captures the two near the Perestroika cabaret club and drags them to Mikhail Faustin's basement, where Niko and Roman are interrogated.
Andrei’s patience grows thin as Niko provides unreliable information, leading to tension between the characters. In a key moment of the story, Andrei shouts at Roman, calling him "Mr. Fatman" as Roman struggles to free himself from the situation.
Death[]
While Niko and Mikhail Faustin are engaged in conversation, Mikhail, in a fit of rage, shoots Andrei in the head. Mikhail expresses his anger at Andrei for disturbing him by bringing the Bellic cousins into his home, as well as accusing him of being an "asshole."
