Andrew Briggs is a minor antagonist in season 8 of Dexter.
He was portrayed by Rhys Coiro, who also portrayed Gabe Navarro in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
History[]
After Debra Morgan was forced to kill Maria LaGuerta after she discovered her foster brother Dexter Morgan was The Bay Harbor Butcher, Debra quit the police force and became an investigator working for Jacob Elway. She starts working on a case in which she goes undercover dating Briggs, who stole half a million dollars worth of jewelry. She abuses drugs and parties with him, mostly to numb her guilt and depression, although it is implied that she has genuine feelings for him.
Debra and Andrew mostly stay the Pink Hotel near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, doing drugs and having sex as Andrew fences his stolen goods. However, Dexter soon learns Andrew is being targeted by a hitman called El Sapo and goes to try and warn his sister about him, but she still insists on staying, telling her skeptical brother that, despite his crimes, Andrew is a good person. Andrew and Dexter have a brief fight that ends with Dexter stabbing Andrew in the heart in self defense, which serves to worsen their estrangement. Dexter then presumably gets rid of the evidence for her and Andrew's body.
