Andrew Edwards is a minor character in V/H/S/94 and the main antagonist of its second short "The Empty Wake".
He was portrayed by Devin Chin-Cheong.
Biography[]
One night, Andrew climbed to the roof of a church and "yelled gibberish" at the top of his lungs, then committed suicide by jumping off just as a congregation was leaving. The family of Andrew requested that his wake be recorded throughout the entire night at the funeral home. A woman working there named Hailey stays overnight after agreeing to wait for them in order for the family to grieve and give a sermon for him, though the family---barring one man---never arrives due to the possibility of a tornado in the area. That one man, claiming to be a relative, doesn't stay long however, chanting something in an unknown language before promptly leaving.
As Hailey waited in the funeral home with little to do other than talk to her friend on the phone, Hailey repeatedly hears bumping noises coming from the coffin but convinces herself it must be the storm outside or the body of Andrew settling after the autopsy. After the power goes out, the casket suddenly starts thrashing violently as it falls to the floor. After a failed attempt at escape, she returns to find the casket still on the floor, but now wide open with Andrew's body missing, and blood on the pillows. Suddenly, Hailey looks up to find Andrew standing up and facing the wall, as tornado sirens begin to blare, Hailey tries to explain Andrew’s situation to him, only for him to turn around, revealing that half of his head missing as he charges toward her.
Andrew, now a zombie, tries to kill Hailey. Due to the portion of his head that’s missing due to the fall he took, he is unable to see her. Hailey then begins hiding from him throughout the room as parts of his body begin falling off due to his body being full of formaldehyde, such as his right hand falling off, although it remains sentient and crawls around on the floor. However, it's eventually made clear that Andrew can still hear her. At one point, Andrew’s torso partially breaks open as his intestines begins falling out of his body. After using some music to drown out any noise she makes, Hailey begins making her way around the casket, only to find the other half of Andrew’s head on the floor, still sentient as its eyes lock on to Hailey, allowing the rest of Andrew’s body to find her. Just as Andrew attacks Hailey, the tornado strikes the funeral home seemingly killing him. However, Hailey, now either traumatized or now possessed by Andrew, leaves through a broken window never to be seen again.
