Angela Channing is the owner of the powerful Falcon Crest Winery, which she rules with an iron fist. She lives there with her daughters Julia and Emma, her grandson Lance and her brother Jason. When Jason dies in an accident involving her daughter Emma, Angela had Chao-Li roll Jeason's dead body off a cliff in his truck filled with dynamite. After the death of his father, Cheas Gioberti and his family move to the old Gioberti house in Falcon Crest to tend the 50 acres he inherited. After Chase had refused several times to let Angela pay her, a fight broke out between Angela and Chase. The reason lies in a clause in the will of Angela's father. She states: "The 50 acres and the old Gioberti house for the heirs of the child who dies first will go on to be inherited, whether Angela or Jason, the remainder of the estate is the Falcon Crest Mansion and the 100 acres belong to the surviving child of Angela or Jason. However, the surviving child will only inherit if it died of natural causes. Should it die under suspect circumstances, the heirs would inherit all of Falcon Crest." Chase couldn't get any more credit from the bank, his family got trashed in the press. Angela tries by all means to drive Cheas out of the valley. Eventually, the truth came out, Angela was forced to share leadership of Falcon Crest with Cheas.
