Biography[]
Angelo Garepe was the consigliere of the Lupertazzi Crime Family, one of the Italian-American New York City Five Families. He was a close advisor and high-ranking member for Carmine Lupertazzi Sr. and was eventually arrested for illicit construction project in Yonkers and was imprisoned for eighteen years. Upon his release in 2004, he reconnects with old friends and associates, including Tony Blundetto, who had also recently been released from prison. Angelo is depicted as a loyal and old-school mobster who values the traditional codes of the Mafia.
He becomes involved in the power struggle between family underboss Johnny Sacrimoni and Carmine's son, Little Carmine after his father's death. Angelo shows his loyalty to Little Carmine and caporegime Rusty Millio while Johnny Sack is backed up by the sadistic and powerful Phil Leotardo, who was also part of the "Class of 2004". His character arc is marked by his attempts to navigate the dangerous and shifting landscape of organized crime after being out of the game for so long. Due to backed up extortion payments, Phil murders Carmine's old mistress, Lorraine Calluzzo and in retaliation, Angelo and Rusty both decide to have Joey Peeps, a close associate of Johnny Sack killed. Angelo decides to have his close friend from prison, Tony B whack Peeps, which goes successfully, with some suspicion of Tony B being responsible for it.
Unfortunately, Angelo's loyalty and old-school mentality ultimately lead to his demise later as he is brutally murdered by Phil Leotardo and his brother Billy as part of the ongoing power struggle between the family during the civil war. Angelo Garepe's character adds depth to the series in similar way to the way Richie Aprile and Phil Leotardo did, by highlighting the challenges faced by older mobsters trying to adapt to the changing dynamics of the Mafia world.
