The Angels are the primary species in the Disgaea series.
Angels are a species that inhabit Celestia and are extremely notable for their intense hatred of Demons, going beyond viewing some of them as a threat and straight into xenophobia.
While there are examples of various Angels overcoming their racially charged views toward Demons, most do not do so.
Appearance[]
The Angels are mostly humanoid in terms of their shape of most of their features, however, all Angels have white angelic wings coming out of their back which they use to fly.
Behavior[]
Generally speaking, Angels are more soft-spoken and kind than their demonic counterparts, however, many of them have a superiority complex, viewing themselves as the greatest species around due to their connection to God.
The relationship that Angels and Demons have is messy. While Demons rarely care about Angels due to them living in a place where Demons can't reach, Angels have an intense hatred of all things demonic including those with demonic blood in their veins such as Sicily.
It is a common belief in Celestia that Demons are physically incapable of showing any amount of love or remorse for anything or anyone, a method of thinking which allows Angels to conquer and kill Demons without feeling any guilt, a notable example of this is when Celestia was going to launch the Armageddon, a weapon of mass destruction which would have annihilated multiple Netherworlds in an attempt to kill Void Dark, killing billions to trillions of innocent Demons.
Subspecies[]
Angels[]
Most Angels are humanoids with white wings that are the main inhabitants of Celestia who work as agents of God and generate Awe Energy from humanity by having humanity pray to God and the angels.
They are divided into four different ranks depending on their proficiency and level of training.
Angel Trainees are young angels who are being trained via various tasks assigned to them by either an Archangel or the Seraph.
Celestial Hosts/Hostess are angels who have finished their training and are sent out on holy missions by the Archangel, the Seraph or God.
Archangels are immensely powerful and renowned angels who are allowed to give orders to any Angels below their ranks.
Seraphs are the leaders of the Angels and rulers of Celestia, there can only be one Seraph at a time. The Seraph is the only angel who is allowed to converse with God.
Fallen Angels[]
When an Angel breaks some of their laws such as harming humans, other Angels or helping Demons, they will be punished by being turned into a fallen angel and are banished from Celestia, making them typically live in the Netherworld.
A fallen angel is mostly the same as a normal angel aside from the fact their wings become more bat-like and they have a red tail.
If an angel trains enough, they can be granted to privilege to be turned back into a normal angel.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Unique Skill/Abilities: Angels can have various unique skills or abilities which are dependent on what type of training they have.
- Immortality: Angels naturally live absurdly long lives with many of the Demons throughout the series being well over one thousand years old without any visible signs of ageing after a certain point. Angels are also extremely resilient when it comes to surviving lethal wounds, often only needing a light bit of medical attention in order to heal wounds that would be fatal to a human.
- Superhuman strength, speed & durability: Angels are immensely strong, being able to casually destroy planets, stars, solar systems and even galaxies with simple attacks.
- Magic: Angels are able to use the mana that they absorb into their body in order to cast powerful magical spells. These spells can be fire, ice, wind or star elemental spells or healing spells.
- Weapon Mastery: Angels are able to use and master a variety of weapons, these weapons include swords, spears, axes, staffs, guns and bows and arrows.
- Purifying Blood: An Angel's blood is naturally purifying, being able to instantly heal someone of any wound, injury, disease or poison.
- Invisibility: Angels are completely invisible and unable to be heard by people who physically do not believe that Angels are a thing that exists in the world.
- Summoning: Angels are able to summon beasts to their side, this can include things like zombies and even dragons.
