Angels, also known as Seraphs in some translations are the titular main antagonist species of the manga, light novel, and anime series Seraph of the End. They are malevolent immortal beings that often possess humans and also seek to kill them. They are primarily known in the series to be used as the main source for the cursed gear used by soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.
Personality[]
The angels have for some reason a deep hostility to humans but no hostility to vampires. Upon possessing a human, a seraph shows no behaviour or any actions that relates to his host. Yūichirō Hyakuya's demon has also stated to him that angels can have far more malevolent desires than demons.
The Seraph of the End Experiments[]
A curse that was resulted in human experimentation that have supernatural phenomenon and subsequently developed within an individual with the primary source being the Seraphs.
Before the event of the apocalypse that occured at the start of the series, the Hyakuya Sect orphanage conducted experiments on several individuals, that resulted in them to be possessed by seraphs.
These experiments aimed to harness the power of these supernatural beings for their own purposes in which Guren Ichinose was involved in one of the experiemnts where he had kept one controlled at somewhere for further exploration of its capabilities and potential applications.
Ferid Bathory stated that the experiments is not as scientist as it sounds on the surface as it has a much more a sinister plot to deceased livings beings back to life. This revelation sheds light on the true nature and purpose of the experiment. However this may not necessarily reflect the complete truth as it is based on Ferid Bathory's perspective. Vampires across the country have tried to stop humans corporations from ongoing these experiments. The experiments furthermore appears to be a success as Guren does manage to revive allies that he had lost in battle such as Sayuri Hanayori, Mito Jūjō, Norito Goshi, Shinya Hīragi, and Shigure Yukimi. This however resulted in genocide, mass killing adults across Japan.
His revived allies have displayed no concience memory as when they were once alive and simply acted like nothing had happened.
Trumpets[]
Seraphs have been classified and ranked depending on the number indicated by each of their trumpets. Three of them have appeared in the entire series so far. The total exact number of all the Seraphs is unknown but the farthest number is presumably seven.
Second Trumpet[]
Main article: Second Trumpet
The first seraph that made his appearance was when he was reincarnated into Yuu who apparently appears to be one of the characters that possesses the "Seraph" gene that is related to the taboo of the "Seraph of the End" experiements. The third trumpet that appeared is the Sixth Trumpet. He possesses an unnamned boy who was also experimented like all the previous host possessed by the seraphs. He appears inside a hidden laboratory that is located underground, right beneath the mansion that once Guren had resided in, the Aichi Prefecture. Guren has also stated that the host possessed by the Sixth Trumpet appears to be someone Yu know. He is also responsable for the apparition of monsters known as "Horsemen of the Apocalypses" that have keep appearing across the abandoned city of Japan for over the past a total eight years in which he was the one that kept summoning the monster continuously.
