The Angler Fish Siren is a minor antagonist in Shantae and the Seven Sirens. She is one of the titular Seven Sirens of the game, and the fourth to be encountered, fought in the Boiler.
Appearance[]
The Angler Fish Siren stands no taller than Shantae. She has pale skin and green glowing eyes. The Fast Completion picture shows her to wear a black bra. In both cases, she has a red shawl that has seen better days and a grey/brown dress that has four orbs coming out the hem. Her arms are thin and tend to be hidden under the shawl.
Biography[]
During her introduction, the Siren first pops up on the cliff overlooking the boiler. She vanishes, and Shantae wonders where the Siren as gone. As she looks around in a panic, she becomes frightened as the Siren rudely taps Shantae's back without warning.
The Angler Fish Siren attacks by summoning bouncing eyes that can charge or fire lasers towards Shantae. She can also summon eyes that bounce, leaving herself open to attack during this move. She can also attack by Flooding the arena for a coin collection challenge while firing a barrage of electrical missiles from the walls (telegraphed by "Cool off!" or "Bath time!").
After Shantae knocks her below half health, the Angler Fish Siren will start flooding the Arena more often. Her rate of fire increases for the bouncing eye attack, and she will also be more likely to use moves that keep her out of harm's way, and the eyes that are summoned when she uses the Eye attacks while in the background move and attack faster.
Upon her defeat, the Angler Fish Siren teleports to the center of the arena and screams in pain, vanishing seconds later. The Fast Completion picture shows that she survived the final blow being dealt to her, as she plays volleyball on the beach with her fellow Sirens.
Trivia[]
- Many fans interpret the Seven Sirens as references to the Seven Deadly Sins. The Angler Fish Siren would most likely represent the Deadly Sin of wrath due to her scowl.
- She is the only Siren who frowns in battle. The Coral Siren does not count, since her expressions during battle are largely hidden.
- Despite this, the Angler Fish Siren seems to have a sense of honor, as she removes the water when Shantae completes the coin collection challenges mid-battle
- This Siren seems to be the shortest Siren boss to be faced.
