Biography[]
Past[]
The original Captain of the Robot Pirates, Darkwater was feared, primarily operating out of the planet Merdegraw, specifically Hoolefar Island. He made this place his base to the point he named one spot Darkwater Cove. During one of his journeys, Darkwater met with a Zoni, and was gifted a relic called the Fulcrum Star. With it, and use of his device the Obsidian Eye, Darkwater could communicate with these creatures, chronicling his findings in a journal. His luck would run out when Darkwater was killed by his first mate Slag and he took control over the pirates. Despite his death, Darkwater was still feared throughout the island, leading to the legend of his curse.
Quest for Booty[]
When Clank was taken by the Zoni after the defeat of Emperor Tachyon, Ratchet learned of Darkwater's Obsidian Eye device and sought it out. Accompanying him was Talwyn, who joined him in finding Darkwater's crew. Upon arriving on the ship, they found Rusty Pete, who brought with him the severed head of Slag. While onboard Ratchet and Talwyn were ambushed by the remains of Slag's old crew and would have been killed. Instead, Rusty Pete came to their rescue by putting on Slag's head and pretending to be him, ordering the crew to fire them out of a cannon to Hoolefar Island, claiming they'd get exactly what they were looking for.
Ratchet and his team learned the only way to power the Eye was with the Fulcrum Star. With Rusty Pete leading the way, Ratchet found the Fulcrum Star aboard Darkwater's ship which held the pirate's corpse. However, Pete would reveal his plan to resurrect his former Captain by putting Slag's head onto Darkwater's body. This worked, with the unintended side effect of resurrecting Darkwater as well. Slag and Darkwater would fight over control of the body, even calling forth a legion of undead Pirate Robots. Throwing Ratchet overboard, Darkwater/Slag would take the Fulcrum Star and Talwyn hostage. Freeing himself, Ratchet would pursue the hybrid, and defeat them aboard their ship. During their argument, Slag and Darkwater would separate, which kept Slag alive, but not Darkwater.
