Anjellica, referred to as the "Jelly Dolphin" by the Japanese dub, is a boss that appears in Balan Wonderworld. This Nega Boss makes her lair within the depths of World 2, which in the game is a ruined temple that has aquatic themes.
Appearance[]
Anjellica was conceived by combining the top half of a dolphin and the bottom half of a jellyfish. Her body is given a spiral pattern.
Biography[]
Anjellica was created when a diver named Fiona who loved playing with a dolphin lost her tank in a collision with said dolphin. After she passed out underwater and was revived during the resultant visit to the hospital, Fiona remained bedridden. This caused her to fall into Wonderworld, where Lance would find and corrupt her. As she sprang forth from the corruption, the resultant Nega Boss, Anjellica, would trap Fiona within the depths a ruin that was teeming with aquatic creatures.
Emma Cole, during her visit to the game's titular park, would visit this ruin. There, she and Anjellica would fight. The Nega Boss summoned jellyfishes to shock the little girl and tore open holes in space for negative energy to leak through, but was no match and was thusly destroyed. Fiona was thus freed from the monster, whereupon she reunited with her old dolphin friend and they reconciled. Fiona also learned to swim without the aid of an oxygen tank.
Battle[]
When she is fought, Anjellica has multiple moves that she can perform. One of the horror's attacks has her summon jellyfishes that can shock Emma, who can counterattack by summoning the Jellyjolt's lightning shield (The shield must be conjured by jumping.). Anjellica can summon beach balls as well, and she will be hit if the beach balls that she summons receive a shock from the Jellyjolt's lightning shield.
Anjellica can summon slidestreams as well, but she only does so when she gets hurt. Emma can take advantage of this by swimming through the slidestreams when she gets the Dynamic Dolphin's power, scoring an automatic hit if she can navigate the slidestreams' course.
Anjellica is destroyed when she suffers three hits.
Trivia[]
- Anjellica can be seen disco dancing during her standard idle animation, using her fins as arms.
- Anjellica resembles Gulpo and Girania from the NiGHTS franchise, since she is based on a fish creature like them.
- Etymology: Anjellica's name was derived from the common name "Angelica" and "jellyfish," the latter term referring to jellylike cnidarians that resemble jelly and are not to be confused with Portuguese Man-Of-Wars.
