Background[]
Not much is known about Damiva's background, except that she is in prison for murder. One of her murders involved drowning a man in maple syrup.
Orange is the New Black[]
Damiva is first seen smirking with Daddy when the rioters from season five arrive. Damiva praises Dayanara Diaz as it is believed she killed Thomas Humphrey (even though Maureen Kukudio is responsible). Despite her offer, Damiva tries to intimidate Daya after she believes Daya is attracted to Daddy. When Daya says that she won't be interested because she is heterosexual, Damiva relaxes.
Damiva goes through withdrawal after the oxycontin supply dries up. When Barbara has an overdose, instead of helping, Damiva searches her body to find drugs. Damiva then takes a role of recruiting D-Block inmates for the impending block war. Before the war starts, Damiva goes to collect a weapon, and finds Nicky Nichols, who is roped into joining the war.
In season seven, Damiva introduces new inmate Tali Grapes to the prison. Tali makes it clear she is in the market for drugs, and Annalisa points her toward Daddy, who is having a romantic relationship with Daya. After Daddy's overdose, Annalisa is comforted by Swope. At Daddy's memorial, Damiva makes it clear she believes Daya is the one responsible for Daddy's death.
In Joe Caputo's restorative justice class, Damiva intimidates Maria Ruiz into talking about her experiences and regrets of the riot. Damiva shows her aggression when inmate Deitland and Damiva bicker over their desire to write to Exchart Tolle. In a later class, Damiva shows remorse over the maples she wasted using their syrup to drown someone in it, before declaring some people deserve to die.
Annalisa then tries to gain drugs from Aleida, Daya's mother. Aleida is pleased to see that Daya's circle is beginning to fracture, and eventually recruits Annalisa and Swope to guard her source. Damiva then begins to mock Lorna Morello, who has entered a delusional episode believing her infant son is still alive. Damiva lambasts Morello, which causes Morello to tackle Damiva to the floor. Damiva ultimately shows her loyalty to where her drugs come from, and supports Aleida far more than she ever did Daya, showing her subordinance and addiction.
Damiva becomes hostile and frustrated with Lorna Morello, who has developed a delusion that her baby is still alive. Damiva intimidates and insults Morello, causing her to become enraged and eventually sent to B-Block, reserved for mentally ill and elderly prisoners.
