~ The Announcer's catchphrase |
“ | They took my show. They stole my work. They took my BFDI. I waited for my moment to take it all back, waiting for the cast to dwindle. When fortunately, that process was sped up for me when Two arrived. 40 contestants left, and, as the cast shrunk, I planned my return, The final four seemed like the perfect time to return to Earth. Barely any pushback. I took back my show. I own BFDI once again, and now I own BFB. And now it's cancelled. And since it's cancelled, no one can win this BFDI from me. It's mine. Forever. | „ |
~ Announcer revealing his motivation and plan to steal the BFDI |
The Announcer, also known as Speaker Box, is the main antagonist of the animated web series Battle for Dream Island.
He is a speaker box that arrived at Goiky to host the titular show and organizes competitions for the contestants with the grand prize being the ownership of the Dream Island itself. He doesn't show much care for the contestants as he deliberately organizes dangerous challenges that often result in repeated deaths.
He is voiced by AT&T's Mike Text-to-Speech demo.
Appearance[]
Announcer appears to be a speaker box. His cone and gasket are light grey, and his main body is dark grey.
Personality[]
Although the Announcer has a calm voice due to being voiced by AT&T's Mike text-to-speech demo (so calm, he is unable to talk sarcastically), he is in fact very sadistic, being unfair towards a lot of contestants and not caring about Leafy stealing Dream Island.[1]
The Announcer is shown to have a sense of dark humor. He laughed while watching Woody drown in bread. The Announcer also brought back the BFDI finalists recovery centers just so that he could kill them repeatedly.
However, the Announcer has been shown that even though he is selfish and manipulative, he is grateful and truly does enjoy BFDI, and once he finally and peacefully reobtained the show, he thanked Four and X for making the season happen and creating the BFDI, showing that despite his initial anger towards others, he can be forgiving of those people once things calm down.
Biography[]
Battle For Dream Island[]
In BFDI, his very first appearance was in the first episode, when he fell out of the sky to start Battle For Dream Island. Later in the series, he became more and more sadistic, trapping the eliminated contestants in the TLC, then burning down a box of Recommended Characters in BFDI 16 just because the Viewers messed with his "private stuff"[2], although this is debatable because Firey also could have done it. It eventually peaks when he lets Leafy steal Dream Island[3], ultimately leading to her "exile" to Yoyleland.[4]
Battle For Dream Island Again[]
He also made a few background cameos in BFDIA.[1] BFB reveals that Announcer was actually secretly hosting this season with the budget Leafy provided when she bought Dream Island, being left unnoticed by everyone except TV, who Announcer had contacted. Announcer also created the challenge spinner wheel, the Puffball Speaker Box, and spent his savings on a Hand Powered Recovery Center when everyone kept dying. Likely due to his budget running out, BFDIA was quietly cancelled.
IDFB[]
He is not present at all in the currently one episode of IDFB, as he was back on his home planet at the time due to the end of BFDIA's production.
Battle For BFDI / Battle For BFB[]
The Announcer makes a surprise return in BFB 28, kicking Four out of the show, much to the relief of everyone due to them preferring the Announcer over Four. However, as the Announcer starts hosting again, he starts spending the budget constantly over trivial and unnecessary things, including randomly giving $50,000 to Flower, something that made former contestant Taco suspicious. Announcer however dismissed these suspicions.
The Announcer is revealed to be far more sadistic in BFB 29, revealing to Taco how he secretly hosted BFDIA and was hosting BFB only so he can cancel it by overspending the budget, just to get the BFDI. He almost succeeds at this, as the lack of budget caused the show to degrade more and more until it and all the other characters would disappear. Luckily, Flower is able to save the show with the $50,000 that the Announcer ironically gave her in the previous episode. Seemingly admitting defeat, the Announcer reluctantly lets the show continue and lets the viewers vote for Flower or Gelatin to win the season.[5][1]
In BFB 30, after Flower was revealed the winner, the Announcer had to give off the promised prizes. However, after a struggle between Purple Face and the contestants, ultimately ending with him, Flower, and Purple Face fighting over the BFDI, Announcer reveals that the BFDI is the only remaining copy of the whole series prior to BFB. Finally realizing why Announcer cared so much about the BFDI, Flower finally selflessly gives him the BFDI, stating she wasn't interested in it anymore.[1] Afterwards, he admits to be thankful to Four for creating the 4th season and starts working with them, as well as X and Purple Face to create another season.
