That's Joey Zasa's bulldog. That's Anthony Squigliaro. They call him the Ant. He dips his bullets in cyanide.
~ Vincent Corleone about Anthony Squigliaro.

Anthony Squigliaro also known as The Ant is a minor antagonist of the 1990 film The Godfather Part III.

In his characterisation, he is a henchman and the right-hand bodyguard of mob boss Joey Zasa.

He was portrayed by Vito Antuofermo.

Biography[]

Anthony "The Ant" Squigliaro was an enforcer and bodyguard working for Joey Zasa, a Caporegime of the Corleone Family who led their operations in New York but was also secretly working for Don Altobello. He was known for dipping his bullets into cyanide before killing his targets. He was first seen along with his boss, in a party in Michael Corleone's house after the papal ceremony. He was shown making fun of guests dancing and singing along with Joey Zasa. Sonny Corleone's illegitimate son Vincent Mancini, who was present at the party was asked by a female reporter about Squigliaro what he guy like him was doing in Michael Corleone's party, to which Vincent replied by telling her who he is and what he does. Squigliaro then accompanied his boss Joey, in a meeting with their Don Michael Corleone, in which he told him about the problems he has with Vincent who also came to see his uncle. Even though Michael tried to make peace between them, Vincent attempted to bite Joey's ear off before being stopped by Squigliaro and Al Neri, who were also present. Two hitmen were then sent by Joey to kill Vincent, but got killed instead.

Some time later, during a meeting of the New York Crime Families, Joey Zasa got no respect and left the room enraged along with Squigliaro and was soon followed by Don Altobello, who was the true mastermind behind the assassination attempt with a helicopter attack that was made a few seconds after. Michael and Vincent both escaped but Michael was soon hit by a stroke and moved to a hospital. Vincent, along with Al Neri and his aunt Connie Corleone, planned their revenge against Joey Zasa, going against Michael's orders. During a parade in Little Italy, Vincent's men started to mock both Joey and Squigliaro in order to seperate them. When Squigliaro approached one of Vincent's men, he was shot and killed instantly by Al Neri. His boss Joey was also killed by Vincent himself.
