Anton Masovich is one of two main antagonists (along with El Toro) of the 2016 Netflix Action Comedy film True Memoirs of an International Assassin.
He a powerful and ruthless gangster who controls the police and the media in Venezuela. Masovich wants to kill Sam Larson, a mild-mannered writer who is mistaken for a real assassin, and El Toro, a rebel leader who opposes the corrupt president, Miguel Cueto. Masovich is a dangerous and violent character who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. speechless.
He is portrayed by Andrew Howard.
Biography[]
Prior to being introduced to Masovich, Samuel Larson later after being taken to Caracas (the capital of Venezuela), he and Juan are have issues due to Juan believing Larson isn’t a assassin. In fear for his life Sam escapes from Juan and runs to the police station where he meets Detective Diego Garcia, not knowing Garcia works for Masovich until he takes him to a abandoned where Garcia attempted to shake Sam down for money after complaining about his pay from Masovich.
In a desperate attempt Sam attempts to punch Garcia but stops as he looks. As Garcia is about to kill Sam, Rosa Bolivar ends and shoots Garcia in the foot sending him to run off. She then takes Larson to Masovich’s doorstep as he has been hearing a lot about the assassin.
As Masovich introduced himself to Samuel Larson he takes him outside for a offer greater then El Toro’s offer to kill the president: to kill El Toro himself. He gives Samuel a choice of killing the president for evil or do it for good for himself.
As Masovich’s butler, Paolo doesn’t bring Zimas for him and Larson, he pretends to play nice about it. Later on in the conversation Masovich talks about his history with Paolo and that how the butler knew him since he was a boy. But in a twist Masovich shoots Paolo in the head front of Larson, killing him. He then rants about the Zima and tells Samuel to not do him like Paolo.
As Sam Larson is abduct by the Venezuelan military, he meets face to face with General Ruiz, the General offers him one of Miguel "Mike" Cueto's requests: to kill Anton Masovich. Revealing the connection to Cueto and Masovich, Ruiz gives Larson an offer, either kill Masovich or be tried and executed for plotting to assassinate the president of Venezuela. Larson accepts the offer and points out he will kill Masovich in the inauguration ball. With hesitation Ruiz approves the idea and allows him to do so.
Meanwhile after Cobb and Cleveland surveillance Larson, they come up to a plan to alert Masovich about his deal with General Ruiz. Masovich being betrayed by Larson sends cops all Caracas to hunt him down. He then asked for one of his men to get Paolo for a Zima. But as the guy reminds Anton Masovich about him killing Paolo, he kills him as well.
As more dirt about relations between the president and Masovich reaches Sam Larson, Rosa Bolivar, a DEA agent who has been stuck in Venezuela for years reveals more dirt at the safe house shortly before Masovich's army of corrupt cops, led by Detective Diego Garcia raid it. Bolivar and Larson escape after Samuel kills Garcia and the group, by electrocuting them and flee to El Toro's.
As Masovich sends his cops to hunt down Larson and Bolivar, they fail to find them and Masovich threatens them all by waving his gun around as he gets ready for the inauguration ball. Stating he will kill them himself.
As Larson shows he plan is in motion, he boasts about it to Juan, El Toro's right-hand who doesn't believe he is an assassin at all. Reminded on Larson having multiple offers from El Toro, Masovich, and President Cueto, Rosa Bolivar suggests for Sam to enter with a wire to expose Cueto's corruption. Meanwhile, Bolivar's work on Masovich and Cueto reaches Juan and El Toro.
At the ball, Samuel attempts to locate president Cueto, not knowing Masovich tracking him down. As Masovich tries to kill Larson, Bolivar prevents him front doing so on the dance floor. As Anton Masovich and Rosa Bolivar engage in a dance fight, Larson finds Cueto at the food bar as questions him about the offer. Juan, sneaking into the party as one of the servants, reminds Sam of his task as he and president Cueto discuss the deal in the presidential office. Meanwhile with Bolivar and Masovich they continue to fight in on the bedrooms in the presidential palace as they didn't wish to cause disturbances around the guests.
The fight between Anton Masovich and Rosa Bolivar begins to reach its climax and the two fall out a window. Ruiz being informed about the disturbances attempts to locate the president, believing that Sam Larson has flipped the script and was going to kill Cueto. As for Samuel and Mike they continue to talk until Cueto discovers Larson's wire. Cueto in defeat explains to Larson the he knew he would get caught and how much he misses his hometown, San Diego along with him hating everything about Venezuela and overall himself. Larson attempts to cheer up Cueto but the president doesn't listen and opens a draw. After opening the draw Cueto pulls out a gun and commits suicide in front of Larson by gunshot. As the president laid dead on the floor Masovich and Bolivar's brawl enters the presidential office. As Sam tries to help the deceased president, General Ruiz comes in with a armed personnel. As Rosa Bolivar pushes Masovich to Ruiz, Ruiz the fatally shoots Masovich and has both Larson and Bolivar arrested assuming they have assassinated Cueto.
