Anton Veruca (also translated as Anton Beluga or Anton Brooke) is the secondary antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog serialized manga and its subsequent stories published by Shogakukan.
He is the self-proclaimed number one hooligan of Hedgehog Town, and the archenemy of the shy nerd Nicky the Hedgehog. When Nicky wishes he could be stronger to defeat Anton, he turns into the brave hero Sonic the Hedgehog and beats up Anton.
He frequently attempts to date Nicky's girlfriend Amy Rose, even going as far as to sometimes kidnap her and force her to go on dates with him. He also hangs out with his quadruplet younger siblings that are apart of a group.
Biography[]
Anton is Nicky's main antagonist. When Nicky wishes that he could be stronger only to defeat Anton, he becomes Sonic without even realizing it. He also hangs out with his family, who assist him sometimes, such as his brothers Mad Veruca, Tod Veruca and Hud Veruca, his sister Migu Veruca, his father Hogi Veruca, and his mother Vera Veruca. While Anton is the leader, his family is just as bad as him.
He sometimes works for Dr. Eggman, who feeds him information about Nicky, though Anton is only used as a pawn for Eggman's schemes to learn more about the connection between Nicky and Sonic.
Personality[]
Anton is an extremely bad individual, tormenting the citizens of Hedgehog Town left and right and even intimidating workers at pizzerias to give him pizzas. Anton has no honor, cheating in everything he can, especially in a fight.
He tries to date Nicky's girlfriend Amy Rose, constantly hitting on her and not hesitating to go as far as to kidnap her and force her to go on a date with him. He also has a very exaggerated sense of self-importance, being extremely melodramatic and making a grand entrance whenever he appears.
He claims that he is not the least bit afraid of Sonic, when in reality he is a coward who greatly fears Sonic due to being beaten by him.

- Anton makes a cameo in the Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary comic, where he is seen driving a car.
- Due to the manga not being properly localized, his actual last name is unknown, as it can also be translated to "Beruka". In his first appearance, he wears a shirt with the initials AB, implying his name may be Beruka (possibly translating to "Brooke"), although it could also be a reference to a plantar wart (also known as "verruca").
